im not expert but im pretty sure bmore club is more based on sampled breakbeats than drum machine stuff, plus more goofy/soul samples than rap, i think.

there's a lot of breakbeats, but there's drum machines too (mostly kicks and claps). and gunshots.

when house music first took off in Baltimore in the late 80's/early 90's, most of the stuff being played was from other cities (possibly a lot of Chicago), but over time more and more of it has been locally produced.
