Most famously, Sharon, Lois & Bram.

Tanks

Brandon Biondo (twinkiebots), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

the elephant show! even as a kid i hated that, it took up valuable space for cartoons!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

How could you HATE something that's all about LOVE?

Huk-L, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I nuts, or did Jimmy Durante do this?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

inka dinka dinkadoo

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

you guys sound like you're on the n0ize pickle board

JaXoN (JasonD), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys should hear the Sharon, Lois, Bram and Young version. When Neil kicks in with the feedback it just takes it right over the top and the kiddles' eyes all get as big as saucers. I think there's probably some pants-pooping too. Best concert I ever saw.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the funniest thing you've ever posted, Sean.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sean in breaking-my-brain shocka.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

...

Brandon Biondo (twinkiebots), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, before Bryan rats me out, I actually borrowed the concept of Sharon Lois Bram & Young from Radio Free Vestibule...they actually did a very short snippet of what they thought SLB&Y's version of "Skinamarink" would sound like.

I'll take credit for the pants-pooping bit though, though now maybe I think I shouldn't.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

you would, stinky.

dysøn (dyson), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Those of us at Sneaks yesterday must take partial blame for Sean's meltdown -- we started discussing Polka Dot Door, Vision On, Rocket Robin Hood, and other shows we watched when we were kids. Had I known that he would revert to being eight years old, I would have changed the subject.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the Mini Pops thread going to happen?

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Should we make an effort to listen to the albums again, or rely on our memories?
We could do both ... start the thread, seek out the albums later, and return to thread to report on whether our childhood memories are ruined or not.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

If only I knew where mine was! I know it had a Boney M cover on it.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Google can do anything - it was this one http://www.ktelclassics.com/minipops.html

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes! That's the one we have too. I'll be at my parents' place later in the week and I'll search for it.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Girl.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Fun-hater.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't listen to him - he wears more eye glitter than I do.

Actually wow, that entire k-tel classics site is amazing. I still have at least three of the special comps that are in the rock/pop section. But it's even better to see the ones I didn't have.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

It is! It has FULL TILT! POWER TRACKS! And this one, which I never saw before but it looks great!: http://www.ktelclassics.com/moderndance.html

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

They are still missing a few it looks like - the very first record I ever had was the Canadian release of this one (which doesn't seem to be there on teh site). http://www.ktelclassics.com/dimensions.html
Mine has a different track listing that starts with Kool and the Gang's Celebration and includes Harlequin's Innocence.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, that song about Barry's on that one!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG - you are right! Though technically I think it was about his girl.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The "Dimensions" comp has three songs in common with my Billboard 1981 comp. Including the song about my girl. And both feature Hall and Oates, but mine has the GREBT "Kiss Is On My List", whereas K-Tel went for "You Make My Dreams" (? what song is this ?).

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the best Hall and Oates song ever is what. (not saying THAT much really)

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"skinnamarinkydinkydink skinamarinkydoo I LOVE YOU," vs. Vanilla Ice- To The Extreme- track 14: "I love you"/plus track 15: "Havin a Roni" where he sings "eedabodda eedabodda skiddlyboomdeboom eedaboddaeedabodda skiddlydoo"

Queen Electric Toaster Torturer (Queen Electric Butt Prober BZZ), Thursday, 23 September 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Where does Snow's "Informer" fit into this equation?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 23 September 2004 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not playing unless "The Cat Came Back" is in there too.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 September 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't this song in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof? The grandchildren had to sing it to Big Daddy.
