raffi looks like that fuckwad art teacher from Six Feet Under and i had to listen to him all the time with my 12 yrs junior little sister, so he loses

I CAN'T CHOOSE. These were the two most influential musicians of my wee infant years.

I want to know who sang "goo goo ga ga gootchie gootchie goo," because that would get my vote in a heartbeat

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Raffi for two reasons: 1) he bears a striking resemblance to Daniel Bejar and 2) Daniel Lanois produced a couple of his records

God, I can't wait to tease Chelsea about this next time I see her.

There's something very amazing about Raffi's voice and accent.

Do all children's entertainers have beards? Is it a prerequisite to look like a creepy uncle to be invited into your home to entertain your children? Don't even get me started on Father Abraham.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Raffi was nicer, more gentle. search 'the corner grocery store'

Fred Penner was a bit more hyperactive, as I recall. maybe I just remember that from his TV show, Fred Penner's Place. did anyone else watch that? Word Bird et al? I actually saw the set once at CBC Vancouver; the hollow log he climbed through had only one end. It was pretty disillusioning.

Fred Penner's Place was awesome!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah but Raffi went all hippy. And Fred, well what happened to Fred? The guy did have a knack for the songcraft. He should write for Celine.

Who are big name children entertainers these days? Britney, Christina.
I'm glad I'm a child of the 80's.

I think Fred Penner was a more subtle lyricist, who combined pop and folk influences with greater overall skill. Raffi, though talented, and, at times, very insightful, tended to go for obvious choruses. Yes, he did change and progress, but, as I said before, his new-age philosophies drew a divide between wild-eyed ankle-grabbers and their suicidal parents.
