Mine hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but I've heard good things. People who hated Live In Japan are getting into it (possibly because he was a lot more together at the time of the recording, rather than playing the songs in public for the first time after spending months alone in a cabin in the freezing cold)

I don't even have the words.

Live in Japan was so ghastly that even the concept of listening to this after receiving it free is unimaginable to me. 3xLP omg...

Wasn't there a 2xEP vinyl limited ed thing out recently? Anbody hear it? I seem to remember Pitchfork rating it highly.

I've heard the 'Seven New Songs' of Mt. Eerie, which was half of what they reviewed on Pfork. It was good- 'Wooly Mammoth's Absence' definitely being the standout of that set, in my opinion. You can slsk it pretty easily now, I think.

It came in the mail yesterday. It's really really good. Thirty-four songs. It's pretty much just a high-quality bootleg recorded in Copenhagen, but nonetheless I'd call it essential.

It's much more sucessful than Live in Japan for several reasons. First, including the entire set with between-song-banter rather than culling tracks from several shows adds a lot of intimacy; it carries all the unpretentious charm of his live shows. Second, the performances are much tighter. It's just Phil and a guitar. No pick-up-band that doesn't really know the songs. No weird howling. There are many of the same songs from Live In Japan but they have a lot more focus in these versions. Third, the songs are just better. Phil selflessly/foolishly relegated "Get The Hell Out Of The Way Of The Volcano", what could have been the best track from Live In Japan, to K's Invisible Shield label sampler, but it reappears here. Also, there are reworked and updated versions of some favorite older tracks, including "The Moon". He opens with a great version of "Wooly Mammoth's Absence" and continues with about 15 songs not released elsewhere, and several more that are ultra-hard to find. Some clearly rank among Phil's very best, including "Who" (which I remembered J0hn really liked) and "I say 'Nej'".

Also, the packaging iis just lovely, with a large, 3-panel gatefold, a 12" booklet with lyrics in English and Danish, and an etching on side 6 by Phil's wife.

Kevin H: yes it's a split release between Burnt Toast and a Danish label called Washington Inc.
