Who are the Viletones? And the Diodes?

They were both punk bands from Canada, right?

(I'm asking cuz I hear they were good, and cuz my mom is from Canada.)

Yeah, both were from Canada; Diodes was the more famous of the two and the Viletones were the more infamous. While Diodes was technically considered punk, they were really more pop than you'd expect (but then again so were the Clash when you look back on them now).

As far as the Diodes are concerned, you can probably find the compilation Tired of Waking Up Tired at a budget price, and it's pretty good. Worth it just for the track "Tired of Waking Up Tired" but fun for "Red Rubber Ball" too. It's basically the first two albums in their entirety; you don't really need much from the other two.
