Yancey's review is hysterical

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 23 September 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

where is it? this album is hysterical.

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 23 September 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the album is pretty horrible.

Kevin H (Kevin H), Thursday, 23 September 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"Horrible" seems a little strong. Pretentious, over-symphonised, weak in places, yes, but hardly "horrible". I quite like "Rest Will Follow".

Simon H., Thursday, 23 September 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

is this on soulseek?
i really like the last one

it's horrible.. CRINGEWORTHY.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 24 September 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree that the album is cringworthy, but clearly not CRINGEWORTHY!

When's it due for release? I'm surprised to hear it's disappointing! Yet strangely, not.

piers (piers), Friday, 24 September 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the album title.

reo, Friday, 24 September 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Why? Did they move to Jupiter or something? Otherwise it's just "Standard Portentous Indie Title #2445" isn't it?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 24 September 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

corpulent internet backlash

harshaw (jube), Friday, 24 September 2004 06:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i like this album because i heard some songs at coachella and they were raw and bleeding and alive.

harshaw (jube), Friday, 24 September 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the album title.

Them boys know their European boybands of yore.

Still bombastic, but in my opinion with 3 or 4 really good tracks, especially the one with the bridge on track 3(?) that goes: 'Looking back to '91, things we should have said and done.'

57 7th (calstars), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

'Horrible' is a little strong, but to me it is surprisingly bad. The melody on the title track (the one with the kids laughing in the background) reminds me a lot of Piebald, but maybe that just has to do with the lead guy (Conrad?)'s voice.

Kevin H (Kevin H), Friday, 24 September 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn...I really like Source Tags alot lot lot....I hope I'll like it better than this stuff is leading me to believe...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 24 September 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm listening to "It Was There That I Saw You" and it is only making me that much more disappointed. Kinda forgot what an awesome opening track that is.

jsk baby (jsk baby), Saturday, 25 September 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Are there even one or two good songs?

billstevejim, Saturday, 25 September 2004 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Will You Smile Again, which is track #2, is probably the most similar to what they've done in the past, and it's pretty decent. Although the middle section drags on a little bit, it's good overall.

Kevin H (Kevin H), Saturday, 25 September 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

haven't heard it, but i'm not too surprised by the feedback on this -- the band has sounded pretty ridiculous in the interviews i've read since Source Tags came out. they come across as wishful artistes or something. i really liked the previous album and EP though.

ryan kuo (ryan kuo), Saturday, 25 September 2004 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
Will You Smile Again is the only track worth listening to. I guess these guys spent themselves on Source Tags.

Shaun (shaun), Friday, 29 October 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
I never really liked them in the past, but several people I know have commented on how different this one is and I might like it if I'd give it a chance.

So I did.

Hearing it once seems like enough to satisfy my obligation.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 1 January 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

this album is definitely NOT what they should be doing right now.
after ST&C's+elaines' tomb, they seemed poised to bust out something major, uber epic...
alas, this may be what they had in mind as an 'uber epic'.
and THAT is just sad.

we'll see. i hear live they still kick in teeth.
