DJ Zeph - The Sunset Scavenger: Is the the finest record DJ Shadow hasn't made this year?

Have just stumbled across two tracks ("Cormorant" and "Underscore")from the radio on what many are already including in their "2004 Albums of the Year" list.

Getting mad (hype) props from everyone from Bill Laswell to Chuck D, DJ Zeph has concocted an album that takes it base from instrumental hip hop but is much, much more!

Apparently he came through the breakdancing craze of 82/83, studied music production and came to notoriety through many high profile deejays/turntablists.

From first hearing, he is camparable to Shadow, but he certainly mixes more influences on the two pieces of music I've heard. Has anyone heard/got this album and can you deliver some form of analysis on its contents?

Is "Sunset Scavenger" a masterstroke of sampleworthy craftsmenship or just an also-ran? Please deliver here....
