BOOGERZZ

I also hate it when the sticker thing at the top of new CDs leaves sticky junk on the jewel case and you have to get it off. Packing tape works well for the really stubborn ones.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 25 September 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like some space-age polymer made of a secret hybrid of semen, mucus and epoxy.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 25 September 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I could play with it all day.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Saturday, 25 September 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it's kinda fun. I find it in weird places all the time, too.

I use 'Goo Gone' to get the glue off of CD cases. It's some sort of solvent (scented up with citrus so it doesn't smell too nasty); works pretty well.

I've gotten a couple copies of _Uncut_ where the CD is affixed with packaging tape -- very tough to get that off w/o taking half the cover with it.

Jeff Wright (JeffW1858), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The stick stuff on CD cases is another matter. I don't understand why they have to use such an extreme adhesive.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I find it varies from CD to CD. Sometimes it comes right off, sometimes it's a fucking mess.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah that clear stuff makes great fake boogers. Stick one on a friend sometime. I think that's what they invented it for.

jim wentworth (wench), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

it's glue.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Glue...?

Rip & Burn, dudes.

Anybody know a good solvent/way to remove price stickers from 2nd hand vinyl without tearing the record - it's an issue that's been bugging me for a while.

+

To stay vaguely relevant: I'll take evil glue over the old sticky tape being used to attach CDs anyday.

Jedmond (Jedmond), Saturday, 25 September 2004 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you're all such incredible gorks

The cool people are all out having sex right now.

it's just yr all so serious about this yall must get so many cds stuck to paper! and i remember going thru this a few times and hating it myself, sticking it under my desktop, where all my boogers are stuck, with a couple issues of future music months back. it truly is vile stuff, but it has its charm!!

peter $.., Saturday, 25 September 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i love this stuff.

m. (mitchlnw), Saturday, 25 September 2004 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

One piece of this goo can hold one 12" record to the underside of a desk for almost a whole working day.

Anna (Anna), Saturday, 25 September 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Removing stickers from 2nd hand records = squirty tin of lighter fluid. It's awesome!

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Saturday, 25 September 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Goo Gone definitely works best. Just a tiny bit, and sticker gunk is easily removed. A small bottle lasts years.

abegrand, Saturday, 25 September 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Where do you get this Goo Gone stuff? Is it sold with say, school/office supplies?

Bimble (bimble), Saturday, 25 September 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, glue. It is hot glue that has cooled, adhering the two objects. Spoken from a few years of direct mail experience.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Sunday, 26 September 2004 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

it tastes really good

circles (circles), Sunday, 26 September 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Goo Gone can be found at well stocked hardware stores.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 26 September 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't seem to get over the phrase "hot glue".

Bimble (bimble), Sunday, 26 September 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

There's one of those boogery things affixing a piece of cardboard to the new Star Wars DVD set box, FYI.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Sunday, 26 September 2004 05:05 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not hot glue!

Hot glue dries solid, this stuff is always soft and malleable, and as Anna pointed out, can be re-used.

Sasha (sgh), Sunday, 26 September 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't that stuff transperant, not translucent? Well, I guess only some people use trasperent gule and others translucent. But the translucent stuff isn't really even translucent. (Sorry. I had a fight about transperent and translucent with a friend a week ago.)

I like to stech it out for some reason.
