"Indian Carpet" is excellent, one of Timbo's best productions, but *single of the year*? I don't know if I could say I like it more than "Digital Love", "Romeo", "Get Ur Freak On", "Survivor", "Bouncin Back", "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)", "We Need A Resolution", "I'm Real (Remix)" etc. etc.

That said, I love the sputtering, lazy-sounding drum kicks that run underneath the chorus. Other thought: Now that Timbaland's stolen his nervous piano tinkles, what on earth is RZA gonna do?

How about that vocal snippet huh... it reminds me of the doubly- functional freakiness of "Luv 2 Luv U". As for RZA.. maybe one day he'll prove that going digital actually means something. I can't believe he put a Mountain Dew commercial on his album.

I didn't know that timbaland produced work for a second division indie band from Kings Lynn?

It's good...but for some strange reason I would have preferred "I Am Music" as single instead. Probably not as likely to be a hit as "Indian Carpet", though.

Finally listening to the new T&M album, and have a few thoughts -- first, did they realize how disturbingly like a swastika that fourfold ampersand thang on the cover is? Second -- why oh why does the album start brilliant and then flip into nasty Petey Pablo bounce-cruft halfway through before closing with his heavenly eulogy to Aaliyah?

Indian Carpet is indeed brilliant, and the most immediately striking off the album. The Jay-Z collabo feels a bit by the numbers. I think that there's still much of this album that I'll need to grow into.

I haven't heard the album yet, or even the single enough to get a handle on it (although I dunno it it'd even be among Tim's 10 best this year, let alone in general), but as for the bad timing, Indecent Proposal'd been delayed by label shit for a longass time, almost a year i th

"Timbo's best" of course = select group of, say, thirty tracks, of course.

Tim, Monday, 10 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim & Magoo = the new Group Home?
