cuz i remember it was pretty underrated at the time. Should I download it, or is this a 'rose tinted glasses' kinda trip?

The 3rd one was best.

I remember it being piss poor - the second, that is, don't think I ever heard the third.

pretty good--dumb lyrics for the most part but throughly enjoyable. "Interstate Love Song" is one of the best radio singles of the mid-90s.

I remember Purple being pretty good, too, although I also haven't heard it in nearly a decade. the one after it, Tiny Music, had its moments too.

I randomly listened to this last week.. it's just good, worth a listen. Interstate Love Song was a great single, Big Empty was damn good as well.

unglued is also on purple, which i can't decide if i like or really detest. tiny music had some great moments, and some terrible lows.

I like it less than I did 10 years ago, but I still like it a lot.

Tiny Music is a fantastic listen though. At that time, that was my favorite album of 1996.

What's a terrible low on Tiny Music? "Art School Girl"? Or the 2 instrumentals? Besides those, every song is fantastic.

billstevejim, Thursday, 30 September 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I only remember Stone Temple Pilots as being possibly the worst band ever.

Burr (Burr), Thursday, 30 September 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what they wanted you to think.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 30 September 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i think seven caged tigers was pretty terrible, actually the whole second side after art school girl is a really precipitous dropoff in quality. the first side is really great stuff, i remember now. i saw em on the tiny music tour and they were pretty good for a stadium rock band. but yeah, big bang baby, trippin on a hole, pop's love suicide, tumble in the rough are all great rockers. lady picture show i hated back then, and still vaguely annoys me.

I think they should have re-released "Big Bang Baby" as a single when they issued their Greatest Hits package. I think they were a few years early when that one came around the first time.

i checked out Purple last night, and "Interstate Love Song" aside, I don't know what I ever saw in it.

STP's greatest hits is where it's at. "Trippin' on a Hole..." AND "Sour Girl."

I own "Tiny Music", but don't remember ever purchasing it, or, for that matter, listening to it.

Re: "Big Bang Baby", I hoped Velvet Revolver were anything like that. Maybe there's an album track in that line!?

Diego Valladolid (dvalladt), Friday, 1 October 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

wow i already forgot all about Velvet Revolver. Boy, that one went over like a lead balloon, huh?

"actually the whole second side after art school girl is a really precipitous dropoff in quality"

Even "Adhesive"??? That's probably my favorite non-single track off the album. "Ride The Cliche" is great too. I can kind of see why people might not like "Seven Caged Tigers," although I love it anyway. I'm not sure why, but Tiny Music is one of a few albums I always get the urge to defend, no matter what, because it's just too underrated.

billstevejim, Friday, 1 October 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

lisening to tiny music again is an undertaking i am loathe to attempt. besides, i gave the cd to my brother. the rest, shall keep as they are.
