Hm, looking for not really sad but good, forward-thinking ones. Think disco, proto-house, pop, Northern Soul, Dexys etc. Stuff like 'At Last I Am Free' by Chic. Need lots of these please.

amazing actually, how good chic are for this. unlike a lot of disco, v few of their best songs are about loving/missing someone, mostly about dancing/feeling good which is exactly what i need. best ever band just got better

Peter Hammill, "Lost and Found". From his break-up album Over which is pretty tortured stuff for the most part but finds some peace and resolution at the end with this track.
