Das Schaffel von Avon/Shakespeare Samples Anyone?

I was just rocking out to Robag Wruhme's "Wuzzlebud KK" and was struck by the vocal samples from Ophelia's mad speeches in "Hamlet" (as I am right now in the act of working on the "Hamlet" chapter of my dissertation it's kind of hitting the spot); so I'm wondering . . . who else has sampled Shakespeare?

Oh, okay. I guess the answer is . . . nobody. Thanks!

Does "sampled Shakespeare" in this case also mean "utilised a passage of Shakespeare's text in one's lyrics"? or does it have to be only samples from plays/films?

Good point, let's expand it to incorporating quotes into lyrics . . .

My guess is that, for all his canonical centrality, Shakespeare actually isn't borrowed from directly all that often. I can think of way more borrowings from Blake off the top of my head than Shakespeare (ie. Coil in "Love's Secret Domain", for example). Maybe Shakespeare is just a bit too powerful and even the teensiest bit will overwhelm Joe and Jane Lyricist's own writing?

Okeh... Re incorporating quotes (though in translation in this case), the first thing that jumped to my mind was a song by the Estonian band Metro Luminal, who utilise one of the sonnets (sorry, unable right now to refer to the right verse)

And just a moment ago, checking what my colleagues had played in their Fantaasia shows lately on ER's Klassikaraadio, I saw this -- Nitin Sawhney/William Shakespeare, Nitin Sawhney. Waiting
(O Mistress Mine)
(haven't heard that piece myself, tho)

Oh my, how did this slip my memory -- When Love speaks, a various artists compilation that came out a coupla years ago, has - besides recited texts galore - quite a few songs that set William's verse to music :) -- But then again those songs go beyond "sampling", of course... :(

The end of 'I Am The Walrus' has a whole chunk of King Lear.
