This is the music that managed to make a bed for itself in your canon, back when it was just an empty venue with a lax door policy; when buying a record meant saving N#weeks worth of pocket money. Other, better tunes may have long since stolen the stage, but Dadpop is your cache of guilty pleasures that are a veritable smoking gun for your vintage. Just because they happened to show up first, you feel compelled to grant them Canonical Life Membership. Or at least find them very hard to abandon. To this stable my own father would probably 'fess up to Toto, Burt Bacharach and The Seekers, but receding from pop after that to Sky, Mantovani...Vangelis... For me it's Talk Talk, Simple Minds. Even New Order (they were great live in '02, but still dadpop).

Oh, and Adam Ant was my first favourite of anything, EVER. But the room doesn't go embarassingly quiet when you mention him, so he doesn't count.
