Presumably because they've spoken to all the people I've spoken to who, when I suggest that their dislike of hunting is morally inconsistent, say "fuck it, it's just a bunch of rich bastards in stupid clothes anyway".

That may be the case, but the pro-hunt lobby seem to ignore the fact that the only thing being outlawed is the killing of foxes by dogs. They're free to run around in their stupid clothes chasing a fake fox. But that would undermine their arguments. They don't consider the notion of a drag hunt for a second. Class does come into it - working class bloodsports like cock fighting etc have, quite rightly, been outlawed for years, but you don't see anyone sticking up for them.
