Is there anything else with the vitriol of Bob Dylan's 'Positively 4th Street'?

How devasting could a CD mix of these be?

You could probably fill a CD with nothing but Dylan and Steely Dan.

Dag Nasty's "Under Your Influence:"

"You know, I walked by you on the street the other day. You were going one way, I was going the other, and we both walked right by and we don't say a word. We used to be this close! We used to be like brothers! But now, 'cause of one time one word one phrase one time one word one phrase...it's all over.

Maybe hstencil can help me out with this, but the last stanza of Jim O'Rourke's "Happy Holidays" is

One of life’s greatest sins
Is that you’re over when it begins
Goodbye mouth canyon
You were very much to see
But I only came to leave

It's the last song on the first album he did post-Gastr del Sol. "Mouth Canyon" was the name of a track on the last Gastr del Sol album. I always wondered if this was a veiled reference to his history in that band, or his relationship with David Grubbs specifically.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been looking for a song that I'm almost certain has the word 'Friend(s)' in the title. If not in the title, it certainly figures strongly in the chorus. I think it may have been released in the 80's and all I can remember about it is it had some lovely intrumental chord progressions near the end (I think). It may be someone like Jody Watley (mentioned above), but I've checked now and that's not the song. I thought Dionne Warwick for a bit, but only came up with 'That's What Friends Are For'. That's not it either. I think it could be someone like Denice Williams if that's any help.

Anyone any idea?

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see you any more
Put up or shut up
You spell, you read
D O O R
You got a big mouth and I'm happy to see
Your foot is firmly entrenched where a molar should be
If you talk much louder you could get an award
From the federal communications board

Don't go away sad
Don't go pre-fab
Don't go be bad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

Blondie.
