I wish there was a way you could connect an iPod to another iPod and just suck up tracks.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

make sure there's somebody to adjust the volume at each song

Loose Translation: Sexy Dancer (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

aka people bring personal music players and have other people listen to their music

and then get drunk

and leave their personal music players sitting about

to be nicked by passing opportunists

... sorry, am i not entering into the spirit of the thing?

guys:

Professor Challenger (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Origins
"I Fought The Law" was written by Sonny Curtis, a songwriter and guitarist who joined the Crickets after Buddy Holly's death. The first version of this song seems to have been recorded by the Crickers in 1959, and released on their 1960 album "In Style With The Crickets. "Rock Obituaries", though, says that the first version was recorded by Ronnie Self. That's certainly possible--Ronnie Self and Sonny Curtis had worked together around this time--but I haven't found any other trace of this recording.

The song was a hit for the Bobby Fuller Four in 1966, and that remains the best-known version, readily available on compilations.
