Why does Christine Aguilera's bootmixes always sound great and Britneys, generally, are pants?

Soundhog's one of Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?' and 'Dirrty' i thought was very well done

there are a few good Britney ones - my one of 'I'm A Slave 4 U' and Fatboy Slim's 'You're Not From Brighton' is a personal favourite...

I liked the "Backstab me one more time" but i think it's more a case of mixers wanting to do one of Brits, but the songs cant 'handle' being redone...

Tim G did the 'Toxic' with 'Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret' one that i thought worked really well (and did my own little version for DJ sets), there's probably 6000 other Toxic bootlegs but this would be my favourite

It's because the vocals on Christina's songs are strong enough to stand alone in another context.

I think you have it there, Dan.

i don't agree with the idea in the thread title though. we all know Aguilera has the better voice but that's not the be all and end all when it comes to making good pop let alone good bootlegs

Because Britter's voice is horrid. It always sounds like she's been smoking too much pot.

Because Dan and Snrub stole my answers.

When can I kidnap Xtina and lock her up and force her to work with producers and writers who are as kick-ass as she deserves?

would her voice work as well on something like 'toxic' tho?

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

It might well, actually!

I do like the tone of Britney's voice (the croak especially, which is funny, since that's one of most everyone's complaints), but I think her vocal tone is way more pop oriented than Christina's, whose voice seems more well fit for just about everything else.

i suppose i am contemplating whether Christina's voice is TOO powerful to sit well on anything that high tempo - none of her songs are over 110bpm are they? altho the Freelance Hellraiser mix of 'Fighter' had that 160bpm-ish double-step factor and that was pretty good but being a remix a case of fitting a vocal tailored for something only originally half that speed into the accelerated version.

what bpm IS Toxic anyway? 134?
