Did anyone buy Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears? Was it any good? I loved Basement Kiss, and the chorus of London's Brilliant gets stuck in my head on a regular basis (whenever it rains down here, basically), but I never heard the rest of it. Should I dig it up?

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The Wonder Stuff....also reforming.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Dig it up, Jim, it's well worth a listen. I don't know how hard it is to find these days, so if you have trouble, email me & I can burn you a copy

Bill E (bill_e), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

worth one listen exactly. worth two dollars, not.

The Wonder Stuff....also reforming.

Ugh. Say it isn't so!

I (and probably I alone) wish the primitives would reform.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

this madness must cease

Where is the Menswe@ar reunion

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

That is a very good question.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

They were featured in a "Where are they know?" in Q magazine a while back. Apparently the singer makes bedroom electronic music now...

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

a.k.a. making crap drum loops on his computer

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Right. With his girlfriend doing vocals.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Johnny from Menswear is REX THE DOG

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we run a book on who's next to pull a surprise reunion? My money's on Talking Heads.

i am betting on the original line-up of the sweetest ache.

keith m (keithmcl), Thursday, 7 October 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i am betting on me flushing down the toilet the collected works of all bands who do this.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 7 October 2004 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it possible that i've been seeing Wendy James in my neighborhood (Greenwich Village, NYC) several times in the last couple of months? I've seen a woman who looks DAMN similar (albeit a little older...as one would expect), and I'd say something..."Hey, I took your advice and told that girl to shut up!", but it never seems appropriate.

Oh, you didn't hear about the Galaxie 500 reunion?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 October 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

that would explain the icy reception from hell

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 7 October 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex in NYC, yes, I read in an article somewhere that Wendy James has moved to New York.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 7 October 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Like, er, that article linked to up there.

The Wonder Stuff....also reforming.

The Wonder Stuff have been reformed since 2000! And now they've sort of split up again, as Miles Hunt is releasing his latest solo album under the Wonder Stuff name and touring it without a disgruntled Martins Gilks and Bell.

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 8 October 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What so they hate each other too? Ruddy eck.

One of them is in a Swansea band called Shooter, FASCINATING fact fans. They sound like Spiritualized

DJ Mencap0))), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope the journalist to whom Wendy James made her early 90s vow to give £50,000 if she hadn't won an oscar within the decade decides to reform too and chase up her debt!

M Carty (mj_c), Friday, 8 October 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ahhh .. just had chat with Wendy.

she was a lot more fun and pleasant than i ever expected.

i took the advise that you ILM'ers provided on another thread a while ago re phone interviews ( a new venture for me !) and have to say it was a blast of fun. so ta for the pointers ..
