The Mountain Goats are playing Sunday night at the Middle East (Oct. 10) Who's going to show Ilx support?

nora (nora), Saturday, 9 October 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i talked to him in new york two days ago. he told me that momus always has been and always will be WRONG.

Helios Creed (orion), Sunday, 10 October 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw the show last night at Knitting Factory. The version of "Palmcorder Yajna" backed by John Vanderslice and band is revelatory. One almost must shout "Holy Crow!" out loud upon hearing it.

Guayaquil, Sunday, 10 October 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"holy crow!" I can't wait

nora (nora), Sunday, 10 October 2004 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

The Philly show was so awesome

Oh, I wish he were brave enough to come to Vancouver. I love j0hn.

derrick (derrick), Sunday, 10 October 2004 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

That new song, "abanding my father talking blues" (or something similar) definitely NEEDs a killer guitar solo during the ending, "rocking" section.

Helios Creed (orion), Sunday, 10 October 2004 06:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I fear he is not coming back to bloomington again because halfdrunk sonny tried embarrassingly and incoherently to talk to him after the show.

Good heavens, and even a stopped clock is right twice a day!

But don't you realise that this is an amazing opportunity for the world! In future all anyone will have to do is take the opposite of my opinions, and they'll be RIGHT! Infallibility beckons for everyone except me (and I don't even like being right, so it doesn't matter)! Waiter, champagne!

Momus (Momus), Sunday, 10 October 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I love epiphanies.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 10 October 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

epifannies.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 10 October 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I think 'Infallibility Beckons' has to be the title of the next Mountain Goats album. Or George Bush's memoirs.

Just got back from Beantown - "Lion's Mouth" (a new song) (if that's the name of it) (talks about the king of the jungle sitting in a car, and grabbing onto a sharp tooth) is FUCK YEAH. And no one warned me about the Vanderslice being so good! FUCK YEAH. And, yes, the Mountain Goats Experience (featuring the Vanderslice) was SUPER FUCK YEAH. Also SUPER FUCK YEAH was the brief snippet of "Two-Headed Boy" he belted out at the beginning of the encore. So FUCK YEAH.

I saw a 10 year old kid shopping for a trucker hat, though. That was crushing.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 11 October 2004 05:25 (twenty-one years ago)

why? are you pining for the days when only cool people wore them? you should support such signs that a fad is reaching its breaking point!

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 11 October 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

that was uncalled for miccio. don't be so antagonistic, please. not everyone has tastes as populist as you, and there's no reason yours are superior to theirs (or vice versa.)

Helios Creed (orion), Monday, 11 October 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

two headed boy and tallahassee, super fuck yeah. the Dresden dolls also did two headed boy for their encore in Boston. I didn't like Vanderslice so much but Mountain Goats (enamored sigh)

nora (nora), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, did he play "international small arms trafficking blues"? that song is great. prob. my fave mtngts.

Helios Creed (orion), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I just realized they're not coming to the West Coast for this tour. WAH.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yo, helios, I was just trying to get David to look at the bright side of young children rockin' stylish indiewear. No antagonism involved!

They palyed "Intl. Small Arms" in Philly. "Palmcorder Vanja" was my personal highlight but me like drums a lot.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

kephm (kephm), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Did he do a capella "I will survive" in Boston or was it really spontaneous randomness in NYC?

Guayaquil, Monday, 11 October 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

nora (nora), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I just realized they're not coming to the West Coast for this tour. WAH.

J0hn's avoiding you, Ned.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Monday, 11 October 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Man. I'll have to write him more reviews.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 October 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight: 'going to georgia', 'the sign', 'intl small arms' + MORE

yeah, that new 'lion's tooth' song was grebt. i also liked vdslice, but then it occurred to me that he looks kinda like dana carvey and i then found myself waiting for him to sing about broccoli

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seen three mind-blowing live shows in the past two years: Mountain Goats, Decembersists, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

mottdeterre (mottdeterre), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Going to Georgia and the Sign! Playing the hits!
