I've been disappointed by everything after Hats. Et tu?

Give it time.

I have made a conscious decision to not hear this record. It being as bad as I fear it to be would distress me too much.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 11 October 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Hear it...I really like it.. It's waaaaaaaaay better than "Peace At Last"..

It actually sounds like they tried to make a follow up to "Hats"

FOPP has "Rooftops" for a fiver. Worth it? (Don't all rush)

Course it is.

i've listened only once so far. i vote "better than peace at last" too. at least one track seemed hats-b-side-worthy, even.

much better than I was expecting. it's still a bit coffeehouse yuppie muzak, but it's good.

kyle (akmonday), Monday, 11 October 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Coffeehouse yuppie muzak, yes. Hats was more than that, though.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

twelve years pass...

"broken loves" is one of their best songs imho

as a whole this album is pretty underrated I think

Ordered my copy when announced. Thanks for posting the (Father) Ken Sweeney tweet. I wonder how often he himself gets asked to release a new Brian album?

The release rumor mill can be a tease. The Prefab Sprout album being likely lost, the Paul Buchanan album being in the final stages for a fall release three years ago...

i like reading this thread title as a short story like, i'm listening to the blue nile and i'm "high" and some friends come over and ruin the vibe and i ask myself if they should have just stayed away and i ruminate on that for a while.
