:: OIL ::
"Dutch post-hardcore/rock five piece Oil follows up their debut, Definition Delta, with this five song EP, which furthers their rock purist legitimacy in the world of Scandinavian hair boy contemporaries like The Hives. Lead singer Nicholas van den Doel carries a bit of Ian MacKaye in his voice over the hard, defining melodies of twin guitars vaguely paying homage to their idols, Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. Taut, springy bass lines drive this pop-metal sound reminiscent of the trademark production work of Steve Albini. "Scrape," the final track of the EP, is a Deadstoolpigeon cover, which pays respect to their producer, Menno Bakker (formerly NRA, Seein Red, Human Alert and Deadstoolpigeon.) The deep sludge bass of the track suggests Oil's fence riding between post-hardcore, switch time melodicism and more traditional metal atmospherics." -Allmusic.com

:: CHARIOTS ::
x Song Of Zarathustra, x Book of Dead Names --- "Spastic guitar heaves over with droning organs and feverish screaming, in a recipe for throbbing fall-through-the-dancefloor arty post-hardcore. Very much in the vein of bands such as the Shortwave Channel and Camera Obscura, the Song of Zarathustra weave a sense of urgency and face-first rock into spacy and drone-like patterns. From the first organ chords that push into thrashy, spitting outbursts on the first non-intro track, "Mess of Zero," attention is grabbed at full throttle, setting the highest tone for what is to come through the rest of the 12 tracks. While not flawless or without weak points, The Birth of Tragedy is an undeniably solid and forceful post-hardcore album, yet another in the line of amazing releases from Troubleman Unlimited." - Zad

:: THE PLOT TO BLOW UP THE EIFFEL TOWER::
"Named for two members of the French political organization the Letterists who lived near the tower and plotted to blow it up because the lights kept them awake at night — manage to uniquely mix California Gravity and Three One G-style hardcore with Beat poetics on their full-length debut, Dissertation, Honey. From Kailani Amerson's spoken word intro to the jazzy horns that play against the screamo punk on "One Stab Deserves Another," Dissertation, Honey is a collection of devastatingly unique rock and roll that takes the already strikingly original sound of bands like the Blood Brothers and just tweaks it in a slightly different direction. "For Marcus" is tight and relentless while still maintaining the spastic, dark overtones of it's subgenre — one it shares with Pretty Girls Make Graves — and adds a saxophone part that immediately recalls the punch of no wave. "Her Health Violation" is a free jazz rant, and an unlikely inclusion on a hardcore punk record. It all adds up to an uncompromising entry from a band that deserves serious attention." - Zad

:: MENEGUAR ::
"Meneguar (formerly known as Sheryl's Magnetic Aura) is a collision of math rock, orch-pop, loud/soft/loud vocals and crashing guitars with soulful clarinet, piano and oddly-timed guitar sequences. From NYC. Members From Books Lie, Usurp Synapse, Racebannon" - Zad

and lastly - the last of them there presidential d-b8's on Wednesday 10/13, don't miss it, this one's our man John Kerry's final opportunity to knock George W's chances right on its ass. 9pm on the teevee - you gotta watch this one. John Kerry's gonna do some mop-up work on puny little Georgie.

JFK is leading Dubya in most of the polls out there these days - and just recently started looking like he's leading in the electoral vote race too. But that could change - we gotta stay on their asses and get past just parity here. Tonite could seal in place a lead that lasts until the election - but we gotta be vigilant and not let the Repub bastards reverse this.

-- SO --> like the other debates, and maybe more so since fewer folks'll be paying attention, they're going to try to spin this last one as a decisive win for the Bush & the Repubs & the neo-cons no matter what actually goes down. Please watch the debate & then AFTER you watch the debate, do a little work to get that sonovabitch Bush out of office by speaking up and not letting the corporate news companies dictate to folks what to think - call-in to radio and tv talk shows and voice your opinion, and -- IMPORTANTLY --> GO TO THE NEWS WEBSITES' ONLINE POLLS right after the debates end and register your opinion. This will influence how they cover the debate tomorrow morning and till election day. The news websites are:

ABC NEWS --> http://abcnews.go.com/
CBS NEWS --> http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/home/main100.shtml
NBC NEWS --> http://www.msnbc.com/
CNN NEWS --> http://www.cnn.com/
FOX "NEWS" --> http://www.foxnews.com/

for more places to respond, go to --> http://johnkerry.com/response

but most important of all, talk to your co-workers and neighbors and friends about the debate tomorrow and on Monday, let folks know that it's okay to feel however you feel about the election, no matter what the news says. Participate in democracy!

Side note: John Kerry bears a striking resemblance to Andrew Jackson, methinks: pull out your $20 dollar bills and compare. While
you've got it out, why not got to -->

put that twenty bucks to some good use.
