Don't forget "Black".

None more black. "It's a wonderful wonderful life", you know, "The sweetest smile you ever wish, melts the pats in the butter dish"

When I say none more black, I more or less mean as white as you can get.

[Like:]
Black Uhuru
Black Sabbath
Black Box
Black Flag
Young Black Teenagers [vaguely remember hearing something by them that I liked a little over ten years ago, so this is stretching "like"]
[Don't like:]
Black Crowes [borrowed a mix tape from someone I knew]
Blackalicious [only heard one CD]

Haven't heard that I know of:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Black Keys
Black Heart Procession

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't there a band called Sounds Of Blackness? And, certainly, Black Lace too ("Agadoo" probably puts them at the bottom of most people's lists ;) )

Anyway, I feel like not ranking these, as what most obviously strikes me is that acts with "Black" in their names seem to be of general lousy quality. Black Uhuru were great though, same about Black. And Black Sabbath certainly had their moments, in spite of being heavy rock.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

what about BBR? you'd like them i would've thought

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Black Box Recorder are rather hard and noisy rock, aren't they?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

DJ Mencap has them in just about exactly the same order I would have gone for. Mind you, I don't really give a shit about any of them after the first five.

(sue my rockist ass).

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Geir, BBR are more indie/synthpop with good hooks, lyrics, themes etc. - they have three albums to give a go, and seem fairly consistent. it tends to boil down to how much you find the lead singer's vocal style (breathy narration most of the time) annoying or charming.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

eyed peas roxx u r all gay

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)
