Or perhaps proto-rave? Those are some damn hyperactive and squirrelly keyboards even for 1982 standards.

one year passes...
I need to hear this.

moley (moley), Thursday, 17 November 2005 05:55 (twenty years ago)

I still think Everybody Wants To Shag... is immensely underrated. It's like the history of UK rock 78-83 squeezed into a single album.

Moley: wish = command.

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 17 November 2005 07:27 (twenty years ago)

Oooh thank you Kit. But I must wait till tomorrow to hear this.

tie the world around our tails/cats and kittens aren't we all

supposedly the music is mostly dave balfe's doing, cope just came in and laid down the vocals wanting little to do with it. serious danger, count to ten and run for cover are also pretty frantic and great. oh and i guess the challenger. i listened to that album constantly in high school.

five years pass...

Still fucking love this album.

I love it too.
When I was 16 or so, Ouch Monkeys was like the sound of the night.

Marco Damiani, Thursday, 7 April 2011 13:40 (fourteen years ago)

Is that the first song? cripes, I really must dig up my copy of the album.

The New Dirty Vicar, Thursday, 7 April 2011 14:06 (fourteen years ago)

six years pass...

So apparently once every six years I suddenly remember that Everybody Wants To Shag is the best Teardrop Explodes album by some distance.

Funny I just had a 1987 Julian Cope live set come on when I saw this thread had been revived.
