The Revillos vs. The Rezillos

I remember a report in the NME around 1985 that they were coming back as the Rexillos, but it never happened, so you only have to choose between those two.

No contest: the Rezillos' debut was high on the list of favourite albums I put up yesterday, and the Revillos really did little of great interest. I saw the Rezillos live a couple of years back, and they were great - I very much doubt they considered reforming as the Revillos.

The Revillos did some rockin' singles but it has to be the Rezillos. 'Can't Stand My Baby', 'Top of the Pops', 'Destination Venus' . . classic, classic, classic. The 'Can't Stand the Rezillos' LP has to be one of the best designed artefacts of the early punk era.

I was at a Man or Astroman show at an Edinburgh Venue when they encored with a cover of 'Destination Venus'. The promotor said afterwards the band couldn't understand why the audience were climbing the walls - they didn't KNOW Edinburgh is earthbase Rezillo.

You got it the wrong way around, man! It's the Revillos that have been touring since about 1994. Quite succesfully too, apparantly.

I have to agree that "Can't Stand The Rezillos" is one amazing album and both the Revillos albums had low points. Maybe a smartly compiled "best of the Revillos" would be almost the equal of "Can't Stand...".

And don't forget "Mission Accomplished...but the Beat Goes On", which doesn't really do the Rezillos legacy any good. Bad sound, terrible singing.

It may be that the Revillos were touring since '94, but the band I saw in 2002 or 2003 was named the Rezillos, and did almost entirely old Rezillos material. The story was that they had reformed because an old tune was featured on some movie soundtrack.
