any opinions? a little more soft-rock (free design) than fairport convention. the best songs remind me of "farewell farewell" from liege and lief.

eleven months pass...
wow, was ILM broken this day? this record is grand.

i pretty much wrote the same thing on the Vertigo thread

just started listening to the Tudor Lodge album and so far, it's pretty fucking rad. if the only vocals on it were that high pitched, super vibrato, folky, female singing voice, i probably wouldn't love it. but the close male/female harmony singing really is great. it gives it a nice soft-pop free design type sound.

I just sang this record's praises on the Akarma thread. While it doesn't live up to the absolutely amazing packaging (what could??), I really love the record. The last song in particular, which reminds me of Morrissey for some reason (it's the melody) is almost an honest to goodness tear-jerker

what's the packaging like?

i got the LP reissue and the packaging is excellent. like a big foldout cardboard thing, the drawings on it are pretty cool

comparing it fairport convention is silly, tudor lodge don't exactly 'rock out'. more like the eugene levy and that woman on 'a mighty wind'
