Just thought I'd round out the family of thread titles here...

Bimble (bimble), Friday, 15 October 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

"if a million talking hot dogs dared them to"
first off that is fucking classic

Start with the obvious?
Nickelback
New Found Glory
Good Charlotte
Blink 182
Dashboard Confessional
The Dave Matthews Band

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Blues Traveler

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 15 October 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, try to convince me not to start an early Mothers-influenced band called 1,000,000 Talking Hot Dogs.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Matchbox Fucking 20.

Phil Dennison (Phil D.), Friday, 15 October 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

nearly any nu metal band

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 15 October 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

The Beatles?

Melson (ArchCarrier), Friday, 15 October 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Puddle of Mudd! I disagree about Blink 182, though.Their last album was pretty good, and given that I think the new Green Day is classic, I can't totally write them off.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Friday, 15 October 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Any current R&B act

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 15 October 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Geir Hongro.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The Libertines

John Cei Douglas (John Cei Douglas), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

This is totally my new name now because it made me laugh for ten minutes straight last night. Thanks Bimble!

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Beatles is an OTM answer. There shoudl be a caveat of "GOOD bands who couldn't..." in the title.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Da Band (as in, P. Diddy presents ...)

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post
b-b-but we already have that thread:
Bands that Should be Able to Release a Classic Album, but Never Will

Let's leave this one for total shit bands who will never amount to anything.

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick Southall, you are a mentalist! At least Rubber Soul is total classic, man.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian's right. Saying the Beatles never made a classic album is like saying Hitchcock never made a good movie.

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the backup, broheemz!

but back to the subject at hand: JAMES TAYLOR

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

His Greatest Hits is quite listenable...

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

...if you're on ludes or something.

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll also offer: Bane, Hatebreed and Poison The Well.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

James Taylor. That's funny. Now I can think of worse, but all the same the woman I work with and can't stand always sings along to his song on the radio and I just can't stand it anymore. I really want her to be locked in some closet somewhere where she can't sing to that song ever ever again. Last time they played it on the radio, she was actually not there, and I was so thankful. She has effectively ruined whatever chance of any enjoyment I could find in James Taylor, forever. Not that there was much enjoyment there to begin with...

Bimble (bimble), Saturday, 16 October 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, the Beatles bit hurt me a little because I think it might be true. IS there a perfect Beatles album? I don't know. I think if they'd done the kind of thing they were doing on the second side of Abbey Road for an entire album, then we'd really be in business. Yet I love them dearly, don't get me wrong.

Bimble (bimble), Saturday, 16 October 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Um. What's wrong with "Sgt. Pepper" again?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 16 October 2004 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Or is that the sort of comment that begs for an argument?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 16 October 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Every album The Beatles released between late 1965 and mid 1967 was a completely flawless classic.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Same about "A Hard Day's Night" too btw. And "Help!" would have been hadn't it been for those two unneccessary cover versions.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, first of all Good Charlotte have already made a fuckin' classic. Also, classic!=flawless.

Apples in Stereo
Sloan

bill neil (inabillity), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Apples in Stereo OTM.

Similarly, Beulah. (did they break up or something, though?)

Helios Creed (orion), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

"Revolver" and "Sgt. Pepper" were both flawless. "Rubber Soul" had a halfway flaw in the case of "What Goes On", but the rest was flawless.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Kings Of Leon

strom (strom), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

"What Goes On" is not a flaw. "Taxman" is though.

Helios Creed (orion), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god "Taxman" is by far the worst Beatles song evah.

bill neil (inabillity), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe not the worst (Wild Honey Pie!) but it's certainly up there.

Helios Creed (orion), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, first of all Good Charlotte have already made a fuckin' classic

I am so happy somebody said it before I did.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 16 October 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Do greatest hits records count or not?

Catty (Catty), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

ps Rubber Soul is a classic Beatles record.

And if you count the American versions, Beatles '65 is, too.

Catty (Catty), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

p.p.s. a million talking hot dogs could kick Good Charlotte's ass.

< / a propos of nothing >

Catty (Catty), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

a million talking hot dogs could give good charlotte a heart attack.

Helios Creed (orion), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

AND I WILL

A Million Talking Hot Dogs (AaronHz), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)
