Xiu Xiu is asking to be Von Bondied.

Mickey, Sunday, 17 October 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

why?

keith m (keithmcl), Sunday, 17 October 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't like them at all. i have an almost violent dislike of them, which is odd because on the surface they seem like a band i should like

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Sunday, 17 October 2004 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never heard more pretentious music than Xiu Xiu. Just listen to that one track on Fabulous Muscles about a "jock" who is now a soldier or whatever. How could you not want to kick their ass after that?

Mickey, Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

this drummer for this local band. when i see him out, i'm just "gah! i hate that guy. the way he looks and acts. i can't stand it!" you wouldn't know him.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Pretentious as an insult. Well, that's all I need to know.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Pretentious as an insult is indeed lame but I do agree with the sentiment--the Xiu Xiu dude needs a beating.

adam (adam), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Pierre from Simple Plan

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 17 October 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Recontextualization of words is great and all, but using pretentious as an insult is by the definition, more or less correct.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 17 October 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Joel from Good Charlotte.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Sunday, 17 October 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i liked (the) verve, but i still wouldn't mind kicking richard ashcroft's ass

mookieproof (mookieproof), Sunday, 17 October 2004 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred Durst

Simon Green (fatmancunian), Sunday, 17 October 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

UNCLE KRACKER

mattp, Sunday, 17 October 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the other pug-faced moron from good charlotte.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Sunday, 17 October 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, all of Good Charlotte are due, methinks.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Sunday, 17 October 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

That guy from the Von Bondies. Unless someone else's done that already.

What? Oh.

alfalfa romeo (natepatrin), Monday, 18 October 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Good Charlotte definitely need to be Von Bondie'd too.

Mickey, Monday, 18 October 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

xiu xiu are great.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 18 October 2004 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that somebody already beat you guys to the beating of Jaime Stewart of Xiu Xiu, which is why his music sounds like it does.

Just realized that there's a pun in the above sentence. Now I'm due for a beating.

cdwill, Monday, 18 October 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Uncle Cracker does suck a plentiful bounty of ass, but he's a nice dude, certainly not deserving of a Von Bondieing. Maybe just a wee little shake.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 18 October 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe we just beat kid rock a little bit more, let cracker off with a warning?

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Monday, 18 October 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Sadly, I've encountered an Iraqi veteran here who could comfortably fit within Jamie Stewart's stereotype in "Support Our Troops OH!" The bastard can't discern the significance between a turban and the Red Crescent, and he'd kill anyone with the same skin pigmentation as an al-Qaeda operative here Stateside if he had a chance and figured he could get away with it. However, it must be said that I live in the South and it is commonplace to encounter people with seemingly Confederacy-era mentalities.

Ian OTM, though I would like to add I do know plenty of soldiers who don't fit that stereotype (i.e. my brother).

The album that Xiu Xiu song comes from is great btw.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

KRS one. Except he'd call me a nazi. Or a jew. Or possibly both.

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The lead singer of A Simple Plan.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Those fucktwats in Good Charlotte and KRS-One seconded.

No one needs to beat up Fred Durst these days. I'm sure he's doing a fine job of it himself.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael Stipe could certainly use a swift kick in the ass....and the head, and the sternum..and the teeth. With a muddied, steel-toed boot.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

man stipe's a little dude don't be a bully alex

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

a little dude with a great big mouth.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

what does he say that angers you so?

Also, I saw a video by Busted (I guess they're like a "pop punk" boyband or something never heard of them until this AM) and I imagined you seeing this video somewhere and flying into a rage....it was teh suck...."what i go to school for" or something.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

what does he say that angers you so?

He breathes. Isn't that enough? Hahahahahaha....I'm just being a dick. I dunno..He just bugs the hell out of me these days. I prefer the days when he'd hide behind a haystack of hair and was all shy.
