i got broadband recently enough,so i want to take advantage of the fact that you can listen to radio shows from all over the world via streaming audio from their websites....
trouble is,i dont really know where to start...
i've been listening to a bit of 1xtra,but other than that not much else...
so what do you all recommend?
i'm interested in hearing most types of music, except indie rock, and i wouldn't imagine there's much point in listening to pop shows since most of the music will be on irish radio as well...
any grime,techno,microhouse,jazz,rap,dancehall,country,bluegrass,bhangra,
etcetc recommendations appreciated

More Dutch fare: Listen to mine! (Shameless self-promotion, but then you asked for it, and I believe the show is pretty good. It's a dance music show, BTW.)

who are "nobody beats the drum"

Breakbeatfunkdigibrokenbeatjazz duo from Utrecht...

why are they unsigned?

...Because I don't own a label? ;-) The two tracks I've played on the show are the only ones I know of them, BTW. It will be interesting to see if they can keep up the quality...

Please recommend more web radio sites. I really like this salsa channel I discovered, but I can't keep listening to it so much or I'll get sick of it. I would like: soft improv, not very skronky free jazz, Japanese avant-rock, academic electronic music, traditional/semi-traditional music from Asia especially.

fourteen years pass...

fourteen years later...
meaulnes asks: what should i be tuning into?
my DAB (UK) radio rotation is currently between the late junction on bbc radio 3, absolute radio 90s, Gold (60s, 70s motown/dad rock etc).
sometimes i tune into nightwave plaza online. it's a 24/7 vapid void of vaporwave, but sometimes i want something with a bit more substance. i sit up late in the evening and like a bit of chit chat as well.

NPR - All Songs Considered is great, especially the tiny desk concerts.

I enjoy listening to New Sounds radio, was looking for some contemporary classical podcasts and ended up tuning in while driving, which I do a lot right now.
