adam nordicskilla tipped me off to this (and it appeared on the mighty flux). two tracks each ripping off a diff't michael jackson bassline (smooth criminal & beat it). this is great!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not sure what my question is.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Somebody else on another Luomo thread tipped ME off in turn!

Still, one of my tracks of the year. No doubt.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah it just gets better.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i definitely prefer the a side ("give it away") as the b ("on a runway") just seems so utterly dominated by that "beat it" bassline. it's a grower though!

metonymus prime (rgeary), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

it's an interesting sidestep out of the trap represented by the present lover, though.

metonymus prime (rgeary), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

trap????

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have any idea what day it appeared on Flux? Cause I can see back logs but no real way to search. I'd love to hear it.

matt2 (matt2), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

trap meaning it would be easy to put out more super-glossy stuff a la the present lover and i would totally eat it up, but it seems almost like an evolutionary dead end. the raz ohara single is adds a touch of cheeky humor that the present lover mostly missed in being so sexified

metonymus prime (rgeary), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

slocki did you get my note in slsk?

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

He never replies to those!

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
Why is his site down? :(

Awesome Welles (nordicskilla), Saturday, 15 January 2005 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I played "give it away" last night. the club was super busy, it was the most enjoyable set I've ever played.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 January 2005 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

What else did you play Ronan?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 15 January 2005 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

rough tracklist, in a rough order, keeping in mind I started at 11

joakim-are you a vegetarian
gene serene-i can do anything
annie-me plus one
zoot woman-taken it all (le knight club remix)
superpitcher-heroin
clashing egos-annoying german name i always forget (joakim remix)
bang bang-shoot the model (teen remix)
bangkok impact-junge dame mite freundlicher telefonstinne (sp?)
(when it got busy and the floor was empty, I thought, ok need to fill things a bit, but after 2 songs i figured i could do what i wanted)
kylie-i believe in you
softcell-tainted love
quarks-i walk (superpitcher mix)
pet shop boys-west end girls (it got kind of psychotic when i played this!)
daft punk-voyager (dominique torti wildstyle edit)
the mfa-the difference (superpitcher remix)
le dust sucker-old shirt
blur-girls and boys
vince-superworld (dj t dub)
justus kohncke-timecode

and some more I'm forgetting I think!

it was amazing though, absolutely full of people, 300 capacity, by 1 in the morning, we had to turn people away. odd for January. when I finished people were talking to me! people I didn't know! it was easily the most fun I've ever had playing.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 January 2005 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

That looks ace.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 15 January 2005 01:17 (twenty-one years ago)

it was weird, at times it felt too easy cos whatever I played the crowd went psycho.

having said that when I played "Timecode" and my friend was coming on to play, I couldn't leave the DJ box cos I just wanted to see people going crazy, I was concentrating so hard towards the end I played a few records without actually enjoying them, so to see a whole floor jumping to "Timecode" was so good.

maybe I have an alternative career!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 January 2005 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh and Hugg and Pepp-Tuba, and Killer! which went down amazingly.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 January 2005 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Any news????

.ada.m. (nordicskilla), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Then again I never hear about any of this kinda stuff anywhere outside of ILX -- new Justus Koehncke record? Who knew?

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Just found via someone on DirectConnect. "Give it Away," at least. It is very nice.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 23 January 2005 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

.ada.m. (nordicskilla), Sunday, 23 January 2005 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)
