So, I've been sick for the last two days, hiding out in my apartment and being bored. I want to go buy an awesome CD and play it really loud--but it has to be the kidn of CD you listen to while you're sick, so no head bangin badass insanity.

Any suggestions?

And yes, clearly I am stuck in the past.

That Unwound record would do the trick. The beginning of the first disc will clear your nostrils. Also try The New Year--The End Is Near. It gets loud, but stays mellow somehow. It's even better with a little cough syrup.

Thanky Pete.

The reasons for my three is that they're all very diverse, "deep" records that take a long while to fully explore/discover/soak up. By the time you're done "digesting" them, so to speak, chances are your illness will have flown.

Pet Shop Boys - Behavior

I am listening to it right now.

mrjosh, let us know when you make your decision and tell us how it turns out.

Is that a young Liza Minelli on the This Mortal Coil album cover?

Meanwhile, I'd suggest buying De La Soul: The Singles Collection. Nothing like Jenifa to take one's mind off being sick.

No Cities Left by The Dears or the latest from Kings of Convenience might work. Those sort of made me wish I was in bed the first time I heard them.

I spent a week in the hospital once, about this time of year, listening to nothing but that This Mortal Coil album.

Well, I already had "Blood," so I put that on and then went out and bought Ambient 4 On Land and Wedding Present, "Seamonsters," and they are all *awesome.*

Urrgh. I'm sick too. A bad cold. Been at home going a little crazy, watching the weather in NYC (not much has happened).
Anyway, the one trip from the house i made was to buy the Kompakt Speicher 2 digi mix. It's good, though the banging parts are a bitmuch for my head right now.
