Time fo SUSHI!

David Raposa, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tedious. The worst yet. Apart from Stockhausen, of course ;-)

not bad. a functional track. there are certainly moments for this.

krisinho, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it made me fall asleep.

What do you mean by "tedious"? People say this all the time; maybe I just don't understand the word.

Clarke B., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm guessing "tedious" = "it's trying my patience, and my patience isn't trying very hard to be patient, god this ANNOYS ME SO FUCKING MUCH". A bit harsh, in this track's case, I think. Then again, I am quite fond of the slow, meandering, chiming instrumental type of stuff. I'll have to listen again.

I guess I feel like this music isn't necessarily trying not to be tedious, so it's kind of unfair to call it that. It's like calling early Boredoms "incoherent" or something... shit, I don't know, it's late and I should be writing a paper now. I'm with Josh in that I like a lot of "boring" music; things I find tedious are obviously trying not to be, but are just a chore to sit through. (Like Listening Chamber 23.) Still, I guess this could be that, too, if you're not in the frame of mind for it or it's not your cup of tea.

there's some vaguely eno-ish synth things in the background and the chiming, picked guitar over the top. does it jump intentionally or is that just a problem with my download? if it's supposed to be there then it's distracting but then it does need something to make it even fractionally interesting.

Crap, there's a glitch in the file. I've uploaded a replacement copy for Dave to grab (and put on Popshots) when he can.

Makes me think a lot of "Through Hollow Lands" on "Before and After Science" by Eno. Unobtrusive meditative music. Definitely no wallpaper music. I like it a lot.

Sorry it took me so long, but the glitch-free version is now up & running.

It was "[tir nakhoda]", by Seamonster1 from their Tsunamin Audio Prism LP. I like it because it's gorgeous.

Unfortunately, kids, that's going to have to be the last Listening Chamber. Time, disk, & bandwidth constraints conspire against me, you see. Anyone that'd care to take up hosting this thing, please e- mail me.
