Decide which CD I should buy, please (Tom Waits or Stina Nordenstam)

I just realised I had a bit more money than I thought I did; I'm going to right that situation by spending it on CDs. I've ordered the Estelle and Annie albums, and want to get one more. Right now, it's between the new Tom Waits and the new Stina Nordenstam works (though if anyone wants to persuade me of the merits of the new Thalia Zedek one I'll be listening) - help me decide which is more worthy of my cash money! Kind of TS: Real Gone or The World Is Saved.

I'm off home now, cheers in advance everyone.

Real Gone, though the Stina is good too.

why?

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 21 October 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Better overall record, more satisfying, more layered. You will need the Stina more as winter approaches...

Stina. It is in my top 5 albums of the year at the moment.

adam you told me that the stina record revitalized your faith in recorded music or something!

I would say the stina.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 21 October 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

what flavour music is Stina?

adam you told me that the stina record revitalized your faith in recorded music or something!

I remember what I said and it wasn't that.

Of the Stina I've only heard "Get On With Your Life" but it's fabulous, possibly better than anything on This Is Stina Nordenstam.

That's kind of a draw, though Stina was steaming ahead earlier. Hmm. Which has the prettier packaging? Knowing Tom and Stina, that's probably both of them.

Cheers for everything so far, keep 'em coming...

Lex, go for Stina.

Thalia Zedek's is really great, fwiw. I thought I'd quickly shelve it along all those kinda boring alt-country stuff, but it's much rawer than that and has some occasional beautiful noize.

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Friday, 22 October 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah I really enjoyed Been Here And Gone by Thalia - my only concern with this new insanely-titled work is that it might just be more of the same.

I should point out that I'm likely to acquire all three albums at some point, one way or another.

I'm going to order in 2 1/2 hours time - can't listen to the mp3 as am at work and no internet at home (otherwise I probably would've just downloaded all of them). I think it'll be Stina, really. I can't find Thalia for as cheap as her or Tom.

You can stream the entire Stina record as well as see the video for "Get On With Your Life" over here:
