in '97 (I think? maybe '98 or '99) I was in St Louis at a record store and I thought "I'm going to give this Silkk the Shocker album a chance" but cash was a little tight and I already had what counted for me as a lot of albums under my arm (which then meant "I am going to go completely ape and buy FOUR WHOLE ALBUMS") so I asked the clerk to tell me about the Silkk record and he said "go talk to our hip-hop buyer" (RIP awesome days of good stores having genre-specific buyers) and the hip-hop buyer was a very mellow guy who took one look at the Silkk record and said "it's fine but have you heard the Black Star album?" and sold me hard on Black Star so I bought that and never came back to checking out Silkk and now it's 2011 and they're showing Silkk's movie Hot Boyz on BET and I'm really enjoying it a lot, and while I loved the Black Star album I feel like I might have had my musical horizons broadened more by checking out Silkk so sorry about that Silkk if I run across a best-of mixtape I will listen to it, the end.
