Pet Shop Boys

mottdeterre (mottdeterre), Friday, 22 October 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Also Prince

mottdeterre (mottdeterre), Friday, 22 October 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

In 1997, I would have said the Radiohead b-sides mixtape I made in 1997.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 22 October 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The Fall

morris pavilion (samjeff), Friday, 22 October 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

super furry animals 'outspaced'

keith m (keithmcl), Friday, 22 October 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Suede -- "Sci-Fi Lullabies"

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 22 October 2004 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The third disc in Prince's The Hits/The B-Sides, which is, of course... the B-sides disc... if that can count. Best evah.

maria b (maria b), Friday, 22 October 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I probably would go for either Hatful of Hollow or Louder Than Bombs even though those aren't just b-sides. Recently the My Favorite one was pretty good.

svend (svend), Saturday, 23 October 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

pet shop boys.

etc, Saturday, 23 October 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The track listing for Pulp's Second Class doesn't look too shabby.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

second class ? what the f*ck's that?

piscesboy, Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it was like a bonus disc with some German issue of Different Class.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

omd: navigation

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

oh. never heard of it.
i'm sure all the hardcore britpoppers have mind.

okay well to add to the ever growing consenus look at this :

paninaro
the sound of the atom splitting
a new life
your funny uncle
i get excited
we all feel better in the dark
miserablism
i want a dog
one of the crowd
you know where you went wrong
jack the lad
the truck driver and his mate

see now you can't argue with that can you?
so yeah petshopboys win.

piscesboy, Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

no they don't. omd win. any record that contains i betray my friends, 4-neu and the romance of the telescope wins everything in the world ever.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 23 October 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Buzzcocks, Singles Going Steady, unless you mean "B-sides and nothing BUT", in which case I have nothing.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Saturday, 23 October 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

a well-chosen beck b-sides/bonus track/compilation-only tracks comp would kill most of his records

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 23 October 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't there a Siouxsie b-side comp coming out?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 23 October 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Saint Etienne yet. "You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone" is one of their best albums, I reckon. Also, 'Casino Classics" and "Continental" are extremely far from shabby.

everything, Saturday, 23 October 2004 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

2nd disc of Substance

frankE (frankE), Saturday, 23 October 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a whole Siouxsie b-side BOX SET coming out sometime in the next two months. That will be THE best b-sides compilation ever...

Ian Moraine (Eastern Mantra), Sunday, 24 October 2004 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

tiefschwarz's newie :) disc 2.

Anko (Anko), Sunday, 24 October 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

You Need A Mess of Help is fantastic but it benefits from including 4 a-sides. I understand Continental is great but it's impossible to get a hold of.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 24 October 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The Smiths's would rock. Hypothetically.

Atnevon (Atnevon), Sunday, 24 October 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and Orlando.

Something To Write Home About

You've Got The Answer Wrong

Fairly brief, maybe, but nary a misstep. And if we can count Fatal, well, all the merrier.

Atnevon (Atnevon), Sunday, 24 October 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It's totally Pet Shop Boys, stop lying to yourselves people!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 October 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Truck Driver isn't on it though, piscesboy lies

(though it would only strengthen the claim to a deathgrip rather than an unbreakable hold, they do win)
