If Metope's "Testcrash" B-side (i.e., "Pegasus") is any indication, I've been sleeping on this labe for far too long. [Not following-up after Koivikko dropped Misc.'s "Magic Number" on one of his net mixes doesn't make my inaction any more forgivable].
Essential selections?

Misc - key tracks from Crunch Time (which is pretty good but a couple of tracks will do): Momentum, Teleworking, The Magic Number
Also get their "Rocket Skating Remixed" 12", wherein Pan/Tone, Mathias Schaffhauser, Frank Martiniq and Basteroid all use their remixing duties to make the original tracks even more Sender (i.e. more grinding, more heavy, more clanking, more irresisitible) than they already were.
I also really like the Misc. remix of Depeche Mode's "Precious".

I guess I'll have to go pick up Crunch Time. I'm still scared of the idea of Misc's music as a full-length. It seems like all the power of his 12" would just become numbing for that long...

I listened to the new one on headphones in a store and it sounded even more like that, so i didn't pick it up, but in retrospect that's totally not the way to listen to this music!

"you realise you're no longer playing a video game and you're actually being hunted down by evil cyborg killers" = electro for sure.

omg you almost said 'techno' there! im so proud of you!! what vahid said on the areal thread also applies here - Misc. sound a lot like Tobias Schmidt & Neil Landstrumm, and i dont think anyone would call those guys 'tech-house' or whatever
@natedey: Misc. is not a 'he' - its two people and they are total nerds
― fez, Monday, 17 April 2006 19:01 (nineteen years ago)
I am happy with saying "techno" now, surely everyone has crossed that rubicon. I will go back and listen again, I remember first seeing Misc 12s when I started buying this stuff on vinyl and thinking "wow I've seen these on ILM!" and then being majorly disappointed most of the time.
Listening again now still don't really get it!

This is true although tempo is an issue here: Misc are still a bit slower than Schmidt and Landstrum and it's what makes their music fit into electro-house sets in a way that Schmidt and Landstrumm wouldn't so easily.
(also the constant implication that people into this stuff are afraid of techno (whether the term or the music) is a convenient power-move but its accuracy is dubious to say the least)

I still like T Raumschmiere's "Himmel uber Berlin" EP on sender which I remember for being one of the first dance records I bought that featured a vocal track that didn't suck.
