I shoulda just bought this yesterday, now I gotta scour soulseek for the exclusive Sparklehorse and Nick Cave songs. Has anyone heard it?

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 24 October 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I've got it, but I haven't listened to it yet - I could rip it into my soulseek folder if you like.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 24 October 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

that'd be swell! thanks man!

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 24 October 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool - I'll post when I've finished ripping it.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 24 October 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 24 October 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

right click on the user window, and type in "mrfusion". I think the folder is called "Cash covers" or something.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 24 October 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Could be worse - you could have revealed that it went from the Beatles to Chris De Burgh...

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 24 October 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahaaaa

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 24 October 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

uhh... why the fuck would someone cover Goodnight Irene?

That's a leadbelly song that J.C. covered.

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 24 October 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The Nick Cave song isn't exclusive. It's on Kicking against the Pricks. Oh, and it's okay. The article did more for me.

steve hise, Sunday, 24 October 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah - I love that song, actually, all of Kicking Against the Pricks really. As for someone covering Cash covering Ledbelly, at least no-one covered 'Hurt'.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 24 October 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

It's nice to finally have the Michelle Shocked track digitally. It's been sitting around ona hlaf-good Cash tribute vinyl album that I never play (Til Things Are Brighter or something), which probably has the Mekons on too. I mean, it must do.

Mojo seem fairly happy with people trading their cover CDs, btw. The letters page says there's swapping of the Beatles Covers covermounts on the Mojo site's boards.

'Til Things Are Brighter' is great. Marc Almond covering "Man in Black." And yeah, there are tracks by both the Mekons and Sally Timms, plus much more involvement by the band:

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Sunday, 24 October 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

'Til Things Are Brighter' is great.

So it is! I must go and dig it out now. Would that be Marc Riley as in Lard doing "Wanted Man", too?

Acme (acme), Monday, 25 October 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

seven years pass...

I'd looked for "Til Things Are Brighter" for so long I had given up. But now with everyone selling their CDs, great stuff shows up cheap used on Amazon. Huzzah, keep selling, I'll keep buying!

Oh, and how awesome is it to hear Stephen Mallinder sing Cash?!
