[ THE WOODSER ] ... used to be called "ROY'S" ...
awesome awesome awesome loft space and rooftop in Williamsburg in the space above the old Rubulad space – shares the old Rubulad's amazing rooftop hang-out spot looking out at the Williamsburg Bridge. Watch the trains go by, drink some cheap cheap stiff drinks (and/or cheap beer) and do some people watchin'. Always a good time @ the Woodser (formerly "Roy's"). While you're there, buy Roy a drink (or buy a drink form Roy), he recently broke his leg and is slowed down for a little while. Get well Roy! -- ALL AGES + CHEAP BOOZE!
[ ASTERISK* GALLERY ]
out in the wilds of the East Williamsburg Industrial Park, right near the Morgan dorms (ahem... Bushwick), lies a second floor space host to the best parties around. A show room wih a stage, a big gallery, a couch filled hang out hallway, a lounge-y patio, plus a rooftop with an great view of the twinkling lights of the city. Easy to get to, right around the corner from the Montrose stop on the L train. Staffed by the awesomenest folk around. ALL AGES + CHEAP BOOZE!
[ LA NORTEÑA ] ... was once called "El Bohemio" ...
great Mexican restaurant / dance club space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, right next door to Boogaloo. You can drink there plus it’s all ages, so come out and share some tacos and a Dos Equis and a salt rimmed margarita at Mexican blanket covered tables & watch some noise / art rock wiz-folk play under the black lights and glow paint. "La Norteña the "club" is in fact an obscure Mexican restaurant, filled with garish black lights, Corona signs, sombreros and a taxidermied raccoon" – POPMATTERS.COM. Awesome.
[ WRANGLER BRUTES ]
Sam McPheeters, Andy Coronado, Brooks Headley, and Cundo Si Murad. "Wrangler Brutes feature ex members of Men's Recovery Project and Universal Order of Armageddon, and if you've heard either of those groups you know these Brutes are among the most nimble and muscular ever to wrangle... anything." -- TIME OUT NY "Spazzcore show of the year! Art-thrash veterans from Born Against and the Monorchid team up in the Suicidal Tendencies-like Wrangler Brutes" -- VILLAGE VOICE. Members of Skull Kontrol, Monorchid, Spores, Bumblescrump, Rad Bones, Nazti Skins, Fast Forward, Decapitated Lovers, Glass Candy and the Shattered Theatre, Born Against, Universal Order of Armageddon, (Young) Pioneers, Men's Recovery Project, etc.

[ JACKIE O' MOTHERFÚCKER ]
"The esteemed spaceways-travelers of Jackie O' Motherfúcker are back to light a fire under your medulla with their out-and-out out rock." -- TIME OUT NY. Tom Greenwood and many rotating friends and co-conspirators (this time Mathew Wascovitch, among others), "JOMF's Inspiration is drawn from an impossibly diverse array of sound and vision: free jazz, noise rock, graffiti, space rock, folk music, Xeroxed art, the list goes on. It's safe to say, however, that the underground experiments of the 60s are a key touchstone - musically, especially the NY loft avant-garde; visually, including Harry Smith's film loops; socially, in their grubby, seat-of-the-pants approach to life and personal politics. What started as a desire to spend comfortably large amounts of time in the basement expanding upon their rock-based, ESP-informed whoosh-loop-jazz fix somehow turned into something else: an anthropological foray into America's musical history, as filtered through the Jackie-O psych treatment." -- ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES
--MP3s--> http://www.roadcone.com/sound/
[ GROWING ]
"A duo of Kevin Doria on bass and guitar and Joe Denardo on guitar, Growing push into the manipulation of feedback, hiss and static; wringing out waves of delay from their amps while retaining an earthbound mastery of crushing riffage. These grainy textures contrast with a clean, pulsing lushness that carries traces of birdsong and touches on natural environs and the passing of time." -- SOUTHERN. "Growing's double-guitar experimenters conjure nicely deep textures" -- TIME OUT NY. on KRANKY records.

[ OCTIS ]
Mick Barr is the guitarist from Orthrelm and plays(/ed?) bass in Quix*o*tic. Mick was in Chrom-Tech too. "OCTIS is Mick Barr from ORTHRELM's solo endeavor. Mick has been called one of the greatest guitarists in the underground, if not world/universe. Is it thrash? Is it jazz? Is it metal? Is it "avant"? Who cares? What we DO know is that this shít is the future." -- TROUBLEMAN UNLIMITED. "Awe-inspiring electric-guitar work" -- TIME OUT NY
--Orthrelm MP3--> http://www.troublemanunlimited.com/mp3/orthrelm-pleuch_1.mp3
[ SINKING BODY ]
Neil Burke, x Bad Neighbor Policy, Clenched Fist, Lifesblood, Helivator, Joyride, Menace Dement, Danse Asshole, Born Against, Men's Recovery Project. "In an alternative universe, this guy has the corner office instead of a basement full of moldy Fear Of Smell CDs." - SAM MCPHEETERS
--ODD WEBSITE--> http://www.sinkingbody.com/
[ XBXRX ]
"xBxRx attack their synths like a pack of wild boars" - VILLAGE VOICE. "You've got a friend in Chris Touchton, aka Vice Cooler, the hyperactive frontman of xBxRx. With a stage presence somewhere between Stooges-era Iggy and an aerobics instructor, Vice incites the crowd to have fun, be his friend, or lie down on the dámn floor, while the band unleash a monstrous noise rawk apocalypse. After being deported during their Canadian tour and banned from four venues in their hometown of Mobile, Alabama, xBxRx moved to Oakland and decided to torture a Casio or two without softening up their sound. Prepare for a sonic seizure that could shatter every fragile hipster in the place." - FLAVORPILL
--MP3--> http://www.killrockstars.com/bands/xbxrx/audio/Track2.mp3
[ RAH BRAS ]
"It's hard to describe just how special Virginia's Rah Bras are -- the magic spell that the band casts shape-shifts continually over the course of its set. But if you can conceive of three lurid oddballs playing tight, devilishly exotic punk and new wave, then you've probably already seen them" - TIME OUT NY. "Rah Bras play sexy, danceable electro" - VILLAGE VOICE
--MP3--> http://64.33.107.72/mp3s/FYC.mp3
--MP3--> http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/The_Rah_Bras-Bus_Stop.mp3
[ JAPANTHER ]
two guys, bass, drums, tapes falling over anthemic awesomeness. the best and most positive dance band in New York. think: "Holiday Road" from the Natl Lampoon's Vacation soundtrack played super loud with equipment falling and shirts off and metal tapping bass riffs and totally soulful hip hop hardcore drumming and crazy samples and drum machine beats on old cassettes and singing along. "Japanther sound like Lightning Bolt doing Green Day songs" - VILLAGE VOICE. "Noiseniks Japanther lead a stable of electro-hardcore talent in a preliminary bone density test." - FLAVORPILL "Japanther, a self-described electropunk duo, gets their point across with spazzy energy as much as with its lo-fi and probably low-tech rock" - TIME OUT NY.

[ MEASLES MUMPS RUBELLA ]
DC / Brooklyn four piece on Troubleman Unlimited. "The band has taken the east coast by storm with their beautiful, edgy, polyrhythmic sound which calls to mind early, more agressive PiL and THROBBING GRISTLE crossed with their own DC art-punk sensibility. Their multi percussionists bring to mind LIQUID LIQUID or even 23 SKIDOO." - TROUBLEMAN UNLIMITED
--MP3--> http://www.troublemanunlimited.com/mp3/measles_mumps_rubella-fountain_of_youth.mp3
[ PATRICK HENRY FORAN ]
"Images (oil paintings, ink drawings) by a young man with a unique vision. Pat Foran is a 23 year old artist living and working in the badlands of industrial Brooklyn. His escapist vs. realist style coupled with the use of raw pigments and emotive color combinations make his work a must see." - TAPESRECORDS.COM. In addition to his art, Pat plays bass in Nightmerica and attends many shows. He is also a roady extraordinaire. See for yourself -

--MYSPACE--> http://profiles.myspace.com/users/%203438094
[ ZS ]
2 drummers, 2 sax players, 2 guitarists "Troubleman Unlimited recording artists Zs are a New York band working between the worlds of Avant Rock and New Music. Mostly instrumental, the music often explores the extremes of compositional complexity and virtuosity as well as extended repetition. The sound ranges from bombastic Prog Rock counterpoint to barely audible breathing sounds." - TONIC
-- MP3 --> http://www.troublemanunlimited.com/mp3/zs-olympics.mp3
[ SKULL SKÜLL ]
Jarrett Silberman from Young People and Aaron Hemphill from Liars. 2 guitars, sound indeterminate. Jarrett is back in town from LA for four days only. He leaves Tuesday. See him before he goes.

[ DOUBLE LEOPARDS ]
"As the members of Brooklyn based quartet Double Leopards sit down amongst a mass of wires, guitars and other gadgets, they generate a long richly textured drone that comprises the entirety of their set. E-bows violin bows and the like are applied to guitars and whispered wordless vocals are processed through pedals, all combining to create an intoxicating sound mass." - TERMITE LIVE REVIEWS " Watching this band "perform was awesome. I never got bored just staring at them making noises into their mics and fiddling with their instruments. They completely lost themselves in that magnificent drone that they crafted, and I think it was refreshing as a visual to not have them prancing around and doing any wild gestures or anything. The music spoke for itself but remained more visually exciting than the laptop practitioners. Truly one of the most unique performances at the no fun fest and among the standouts for me." - TINY TAPES SHOW REVIEWS

[ SKYGREEN LEOPARDS SKYCLUB ]
"The implied musical philosophy of the Bay Area-based Jewelled Antler collective has always been that all landscapes – from coastal coves to shady groves to rickety apartments – possess an inherent potential for music. In The Skygreen Leopards, Glenn Donaldson, who's the man behind the Jewelled Antler Collective, along with Donavan Quinn, who records alone as Verdure -- solidifies his meandering methodology into songs with overt melodies and recognizable choruses and bridges. The Skygreen Leopards' charms are bountiful and breezy, lazily sashaying along with trebly tambourines, wispy vocals, and feathery percussion. Of course, undertones of darkness do rumble beneath some of the melodies, when the singing ascends to the foreground, more delirious than blissful, or when an old organ breathes eerie low-end tones beneath a canopy of chirping birds, and the alchemy of the clashing frequencies transmutes the once-sweet trills into a cold, mechanized din. The Skygreen Leopards hum with the busy, physical, human music of maracas, banjos, drums, and strumming, campfire guitars, uniting together in ever warmer rites of spring." - DUSTED

[ THE GOLDEN HOTEL ]
"Brothers Sidney and Cayce Lindner form Golden Hotel. I’d describe their beautiful music as a quivering in the dark. Aquarius records raved about their “languid, stoned epics”. John the Baptist named them as an inspiration. Come see the Magicians!" - DONAVAN QUINN
