No, really. Singer Bianca Butthole from the punk group Betty Blowtorch was killed in an early morning car crash Saturday morning in Louisiana. The 36 year old Butthole was the passnger in a Corvette that crashed at more than 100 mph. The driver was drunk.

this is sad. this band has had the worst luck this year. their guitar player and drummer left so they got jen finch from L7 and some other drummer. now the bassist dies! only one original member and they've only been together for a year or so. heres the 20 questions

Bianca rocked! She was amazing onstage and was an inspiration both as a musician and as a woman. I got a chance to meet her when she was the sound person at Al's Bar in LA. She was really fucking nice. For those of you who never saw her peform, you truly missed a show. Go right now to buy yourself a Betty Blowtorch CD. They were destined to become superstars. We will miss you.

That is really sad, Chaki. I'm not much of a fan of their type of music these days but I'll always love rad rocker chicks, and I would read articles about Betty Blowtorch in the LA press and think, "Well, that's nice, they're starting to get some acclaim, good for them." What a sham

Gorgeous women with big brown eyes who play bass = God's little way of telling me to keep at it

When I was 15 I saw her play with a band called Humble Gods (not very good, some members later joined Kottonmouth Kings...) and somehow a few friends and I ended up eating dinner with them at Applebee's. She was really sweet and nice, and I was shocked to hear this news.. really sad.

Oh well.

If my memory is correct, I first heard her in the band Butt Trumpet, when I was a teenager, and just DYING for some hardcore music with a sense of humor, and boy did they deliver...not to mention she was GORGEOUS.

I can't believe this. This is wrong. :o(

This sort of thing is why I could never give myself a silly name. "The 36 year old Butthole..."... it makes it seem less serious, to most people. This is sad all round.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 December 2002 15:30 (twenty-three years ago)

three years pass...
I've been on a string of bummer music documentaries lately (New York Doll, etc.) and got around to watching Betty Blowtorch And Her True Live Adventures last night. I only had a passing awareness of Bianca & co., other than periodically encountering Butt Trumpet at Al's Bar back then, so I wasn't really aware of the whole story. It's sad watching... you know the whole thing is going to end in death and acrimony, but you just keep hoping that things work out for Bianca.

Aside: Dez Cadena is interviewed in this and I never would have recognized him.
