(Nashville, Tennessee-AP) The singer for the Scottish rock band Big Country has been found dead. Stuart Adamson had been missing from his home in Nashville since last month. Nashville police say Adamson's body was found yesterday in a hotel room in Honolulu and that he apparently killed himself.

If anyone wishes to defend Big Country, now's your chance. At the moment I can only remember a couple of songs, they seem awful but at the same time possessing a kind of awe-inspiring pomposity which verges on pleasing.

Decent tunes too, if my memory is correct. Open road American heartland wannabes, yet somehow definingly, definitely Scottish.
