I probably sic'ed Pete's name, but, oh, well.

The most recent Uncut featured a blurb about these two 'Cocks getting together & doing a little musical magic. Um, all right. (Strange to see post-punk / arty punk peeps squirm from the woodwork like this - Devoto's getting back to business w/ an old mate, Wire's recording a new album, Burma's getting back together...)

Oh! Mornin', Jess! I think I need my (decaf) coffee - excuse me, please?

Dear Lord, ...AND THE NATIVE HIPSTERS made a wee li'l comeback. Would someone please re-issue the 1st This Heat album already, or is C. Hayward in negotiations to play treated marracas with Avey Pare & Panda Bear?

Eh... why me?

I pbly wouldn't be the one to ask. I didn't see the nearest Wire reunion show last year. I'm not going to travel to see Mission of Burma. I still haven't bought the new Chameleons record and don't plan to at any time soon. I do plan on buying the new Human League at some point, though... I guess my point is that I'm pretty ambivalent abt all the reunions and whatnot.

As for Buzzkunst, didn't they just play that one show? Are they recording? Honestly I'd be more interested -- or un-ambivalent -- in a Magazine reunion.

Hey, I like them darn Buzzcocks as well too, ya know! Check the AMG if you don't believe me, ha. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey what about me ;). I heard from an 'insider' that they ARE recording. Should be interesting.

Andy K - the Human League album is fantastic. Possibly, no, definitely their BEST album!!

Jonesy and I wandered along to the ICA for the Buzzkunst show, more out of curiosity than expectation (plus it was an opportunity for both of us to clap eyes on HD, long-time hero). We were both blown away by it... it was *ferocious*. So much so that we didn't bother hanging around for Goldfrapp - who we were interested in - afterwards. As Mike said, "What's the point, after that?"

Be interesting to see how the recorded stuff works. I hear it was recorded at distance, over quite a time. I hope they manage to maintain the sense of energy and edginess.

By the way, has HD ever dirtied his hands with a guitar, to anyone's knowledge?

Tim, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Buzzkunst? Could someone explain the significance of this word to me?

(And, Mr. K, I simply assumed, given the involvement of Mr. Magazine, and the name of your bloggo, that you'd be @ least interested in 50% of the endeavor.)

David Raposa, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Buzzkunst = BuzzArt, and a little rude joke played upon by HD at the ICA show... "Tonight, he's Buzz, and I'm...".

I do hope they never play together again, so Tim and I can bore people about how time-splittingly magnificent they were, like folks from a half-generation earlier droning on about The Pistols at the 100 Club. (Yes, I am aware of the not-irony-something-else inherent in us thirtysomethings getting excited about a post-punk REUNION gig).

I'm actually too drunk too read any thread properly, but at our local independent 'All our staff our cooler than you" store, one of my friends from there forever lost his credibility by asking if Howard Devoto was the guy who formed Devo.

Hahahahahahaaa.

emil.y, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, I should point out he only lost credibility with me, the music snob who has a brain like a seive and therefore cannot remember shit about anything. Hmm.

"Dear Lord, ...AND THE NATIVE HIPSTERS made a wee li'l comeback." WHAT?
Info? Source?

OleM, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

...and the native hipsters site.

Talking of re-formations (not reformations, I hope) I went to Birmingham last week for work, only to see a poster saying the Nightingales had played the night before! AAAAaaaargh! I was very disappointed to have missed that.

Did I mention how good Buzzkunst were at the ICA, by the way?

Tim, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Prefects (Robert Lloyd's pre-Nightingales band) played twice recently - one of the gigs was in Wolverhampton, not sure where the other was. A friend of mine went. Apparently they recorded one of the gigs and may release it, but there will be no more.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two months pass...
Yes the PREFECTS gig was recorded, I was there, they played a couple of gigs under the NIGHTINGALES but I have not heard anything from them recently,

Good band though especially The NIGHTINGALES.
