The looked like Victorian Goths and sounded like the Buzzcocks. Briefly great NYC band. One album --- that I'm aware of -- to their name, and then they sank without a trace (their last show was apparently sometime in `98). Weird thing about them is that their lead singer dressed like that all the time (I used to see him walking around the neighborhood). They made a great little racket for while -- if not entirely original.

Anyone?

Yeah, I really listened to the hell out of that cd when it was new. I wonder how much the mis-management of Onion had to do with them fading away.

I saw them at Irving Plaza once, and they verily rockethed out, I say, as silly as they were.

really nice production on that record, good mix of dust-caked lofi with albiniish hardness. some decent songs too - that one about "quick watson, the needle" was nice

The frontman, Whitey, is now in a synth-pop outfit called Umbrella Brigade. I shared a bill at Pianos with them recently. The funny thing is that he still dresses like a demonic Victorian schoolboy. He just imported that image into a new band. Although, if you dress like that when you go out for groceries, can it really be called an image?

Still walking around in white powder, with everyone else well into 16 costume changes later.

I think other ex-members were/are in the Brickbats - same look, much worse sound.

Great band, great guys. Their second album (after they left Onion) could have contended with all the new New York stuff (Rapture/Interpol etc) but beat it by a good four years when such sound was outta fashion.
