god damnit, i hate this fucking election. i know its a bit childish to complain about them shutting off the website for a day, but god, does everything fun have to go away on this god forsaken day?

if they pay for a guaranteed number of page views -- is that how it still generally works with web ads? -- then they shouldn't care at all. they're still gonna get those page views; this just means it will take them one day longer to get 'em and their ad will stay up for that one extra day and everybody should be happy.
