Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 6 November 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I passed on Cooper-Moore last night at the Detroit Art Space. I should've went, but instead sat home and listened to Danzig, the Chromatics and Rah Bras.

Jeff Sumner (Jeff Sumner), Saturday, 6 November 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Got myself a ticket for Taylor / Braxton. I'd also recommend the Ganelin Trio at the Purcell Room the night before (14th).

udu wudu (udu wudu), Saturday, 6 November 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Tom Waits. Hammersmith. finally.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 6 November 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

if anyone from the ann arbor detroit area wants to drive me to cleveland to see the Animal Collective on the 11th, that would rule. In exchange, I'll buy you gas, a beer, and introduce you to the band.

Magic City (ano ano), Saturday, 6 November 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Devendra Banhart this Sunday at Bowery Ballroom.

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 6 November 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yesterday Earl Zinger
In a week or two Dizzee Rascal

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Magic City, I would definitely consider it, but unfortunately work is looking busy next week. And why couldn't they play Detroit?!

Jeff Sumner (Jeff Sumner), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

American Music Club and then Ghostly at the Delancey tonight in the NYC.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know Jeff, they told me originally that they were going to play Detroit. Not sure what happened. I guess they had to choose between Detroit and Cleveland in order to get down south. I'll be bummed if I don't see them. Hopefully I'll find someone.

Magic City (ano ano), Saturday, 6 November 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

To be fair, when they played here last summer (just Avey Tare and Panda Bear), there were only about 20 or so people there. And they were amazing.

Jeff Sumner (Jeff Sumner), Sunday, 7 November 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Gonna go see me some Pixies.
At some place I've never heard of in Mississauga.
And I only bought my tix seven months ago.
Gonna get me a T-shirt.

Bruce S. Urquhart (BanjoMania), Sunday, 7 November 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to, but probably won't because they're out of town on a school night:

Robyn Hitchcock
Luna - farewell tour

dave225 (Dave225), Sunday, 7 November 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

A farewell tour? Didn't realize they were calling it quits, I thought they had found their second wind.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 November 2004 05:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't heard the reason, but I'm guessing the Wareham/Phillips experience will be the new focus.

dave225 (Dave225), Sunday, 7 November 2004 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to the Animal Collective show in Louisville.

If I would have known sooner I could have planned some kind of road trip with a friend to pick you up and go to the Cleveland show, Magic City, but I probably can't arrange all that in 4 days.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Sunday, 7 November 2004 07:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never seen AC live and the only albums I've heard are Here Comes the Indian and Sung Tongs, which are pretty strikingly different (noise wise, anyway.) What should I expect when I see them?

stephen morris (stephen morris), Sunday, 7 November 2004 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

the taylor/braxton thing wz announced so long ago it was hard to keep excited beyond the initial 'omg!' aftre hearing about it - now I got my ticket I can't wait.

Braxton should be interesting bcz I don't know what he could do - will it standards or his more avant-garde (and prob easier on the audience's ear, if you see what I mean) work.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 7 November 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

stephen, they are touring as a 4 piece, so noisewise it is closer to Here Comes, but it's mostly new songs where the songwriting is more similar to Sung Tongs. And last time I saw them they played a couple songs from Sung, which were noisier and claustrophobic sounding. The new material is really good, imo.

Magic City (ano ano), Sunday, 7 November 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I meant to post this request a while ago, but never got around to it. damn

Magic City (ano ano), Sunday, 7 November 2004 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

That Devendra gig tonight was amazingly mind-bogglingly great. A nice mix of solo stuff and stuff with the band. He really has a lovely voice.

o. nate (onate), Monday, 8 November 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ted Leo this Wednesday. I'm not much into gigs lately, and will have a co-op meting at 7 that could go as late as 9 or 10, at which point I'll be tired, but I really like Shake The Sheets et al. Should I go?

derrick (derrick), Monday, 8 November 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 8 November 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Thursday - Arcade Fire & Hidden Cameras, sold out for weeks at Bowery Ballroom. I saw the AF in Montreal in Sept; hope the Cams bring some of their theatrical gimmickry I've read about...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 8 November 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Derrick, you should definitely see Ted Leo -- he's fucking great live (if you like his records, which I do).

Right now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to see Animal Collective tonight (Boston).

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Monday, 8 November 2004 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I may be going to that Animal Collective/Black Dice LouEVIL show, too, if my ride duder doesn't back out on me.

Nick, if your ride duder does back out on you I can give you a ride. We'll probably be driving around Kentucky/Tennessee at random all Saturday so it wouldn't be a big deal.
