Dan - did you see them at the Canal Room? I was going to go, until I googled the venue and it said something about it being a star-spotting kind of place...is it an ok venue?

The Canal Room used to be Shine. It's pretty "high class" with a BIG sound system and not cheap drinks. Most nights it's aiming for the bottle-service crowd. I imagine like any place of it's caliber it's a bit of a star-spotting place for a while, whenever a fancy new place opens up(or get's renamed and re-decorated!) but that fades anyway. They've been trying to get some "cool" things happening, I'd never been but in the last few weeks I saw the Output Records showcase w/ Colder and Mu as well as the Futureheads show put on by Justine from Motherfucker and Dave P., who had them in Philly friday night. My friend Sean from college does the sound, which is really loud and really great for club music, the Futureheads seemed a bit compressed, but that may have been their sound-guy. But I'm erring on the side of liking the place. On both those nights, the crowds were almost exclusively what you'd expect for those events, with maybe a few straglers wondering why Jay-Z wasn't be played for Jimmy Fallon or whatever.

btw, I didn't DJ that show. The flyers were made in advance and I was asked but had to back out. I ran into Laris from Arthur today and he was like, "I saw you in Philly friday", so my name was on the flyer, and there was somebody who looked just like me there, but it wasn't me.

I may come down for new years though...

oh, i didnt know. i never saw a flyer for the show. i danced with laris until the wee hours of the morning! good times.

the maxwells show was a treat
