CD Duplication Help

I'm putting together a compilation for use as a free promotional sampler, and I want to do 1000 copies, preferably for under $1000. I don't want to do those paper-with-plastic-window or vinyl sleeves though -- I want something nice looking with artwork on it, even if it's just a cardboard sleeve with nice art printed on it.

Does anyone know a good place? Would getting it done in Canada help lower the cost? Is there some option I'm not thinking of as far as getting the CDs done bulk and doing the sleeves separately using some other method?

Can you, or anyone you know, silkscreen? It takes an afternoon and usually looks great.

Get the blank cardboard jammies from discmakers or maybe even Bags Unlimited, make a screen. Go nuts.

Dood! That's an awesome idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it -- one of the guys from one of the bands on the comp does in fact silkscreen.
