Is anyone sharing the Can reissues on slsk?

I'm definitely going to buy these when they're released in America (they're basically the biggest music-related thing of the year for me) but since the release date is unsure, I'm really dying to hear how they sound now. I've seen them floating around slsk, but I haven't been able to get them yet. Does anyone have them?

Would they really sound as good on slsk? i'm old. humor me. if the whole point of the reissues is superior sound, could you tell the difference by listening to mp3s or whatever web-based audio is out there? (the difference between old versions of the albums and the new remastered versions. the new reissues are remastered, aren't they?) questions, questions, i'm full of questions. sorry.

What Scott said...increasing the sound quality on the original medium but they squashing it back down to mp3 quality wouldn't really give you much of an impression of the end quality, would it?

Yes. They sound better.

A high-bitrate MP3 (which these are) is pretty indistinguisable from an original in terms of detail. And doing a little test between the Original CD release and the MP3s I have of the remasters, the remasters clearly sound more full bodied and clearer.

I'm sharing Tago Mago and Soundtracks and have Ege Bamyasi and Monster Movie queued.

Not to mention they suffer much less from the hideous background hissing on the original transfers. And listening to them back to back now, the original transfers have evidence of digital clipping which is mercifully absent on the new versions.

"Soon Over Babaluma" is the one in most urgent need of remastering

The background hissing and the clipping would definitely be nice to have gone, so yeah, maybe that would be helpful. Of course, the new remasters are also SACDs, so it would be pretty tough for the MP3s to match em for quality...but then again, most people can't hear the difference anyhow, so I suppose it's moot.

No no, you mean Future Days!

"Soon Over Babaluma" is the one in most urgent need of remastering because it really doesn't sound very good in any of the versions I've heard - it's incredibly hissy. In contrast "Future Days" still sounds pretty good. In fact all of their albums recorded on 2- and 4-track sound better than their later (post-Future Days) 16-track recordings

Soon Over Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 7 November 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

... it's like Holger Czukay really didn't know how to use 16-track equipment whereas he knew 2- and 4-track inside out. Might explain why he got Conny Plank to help him produce his early solo albums.

OK, from that POV I agree. But I want them BOTH NOW.

back in the day before they were still ungoogleable, we had to fly across the country, uphill both ways, in the snow, to find Can records... and now they want me to buy them for what in some cases is the 3d or 4th time?

...maybe when I get some money
