Baris Manco

Does anyone here know anything about Baris Manco, the Turkish prog pioneer? In particular is his LP 2023 any good. I've a shot at getting it cheap but without hearing it first. Thanks!

I know nothing about the guy except that the song "Trip" which is on two of those Turkish pysch collections is excellent. It got this great Swinging London meets the Orient sound, the sound the Secret Agent Man will hear when he wakes up after lyin' in the Bombay Alley.

there's some info about that album here (scroll down). sounds interesting but not as good as his rock stuff.

Both those psych comps are great (he says, having bought and reviewed 'em both for the AMG).

You had to buy 'em? You don't just go down to the palatial AMG headquarters and grap stuff a la Rutle Corps?

If I could do that with everything I wanted, there would be questions raised. Also, the plane expenses would be murder.

three years pass...

Anyone know more about this guy besides the stuff on comps ? 2023 looks good, but is it very proggy ? Looking for stuff more on the psych side of things. Anyone heard that first one, Dunden Bugne ?

I heard one of this tracks on a Trap Door mix, and it was pretty nice stuff.

Those were the days when, I hardly had to type "N..e.." and Ned would appear.

All I know about this guy is "Lambaya Puf De" from Prog Is Not a Four Letter Word, and if that's in any way indicative I must know more.

One time somebody had a Baris Manco album on their top ten list at Other Music, but I asked about it and it was a personal copy of an out-of-print album.

There was a double LP Baris Manco reissue set from last year, but I think it was late ('77 maybe?) and live.

This is the track that is on that trap door mix. Man, I want a full record of stuff like this. More on the cinematic turkish side of things.
