Music folk in your dreams

I dreamt last night I saw Thurston Moore waiting in line to use the men's room. I don't particularly like Sonic Youth so I didn't try to talk to him. Anybody else dream about bands/musicians?

That's weird. I dream about Sonic Youth, too, and don't listen to their music much.

I dreamt about Robbie Williams playing with The Who behind a big metal cage once. I dont particularly like them either.

i dreamt about sonic youth too. i was sitting round cross-legged in a circle with thurston and kim and lee in the middle of a deserted town centre road. we were sharing a joint and thurston asked me to play him a song on a battered telecaster. i felt too stoned and when i struck the strings they didnt resonate at all.....felt very embarassed and woke up knowing i suck at guitar.

I think Thurston's overgrown star-child man/boy fan-father image makes him ripe for dream identification.

i had a dream the other night where I was watching Yo La Tengo, but the lineup was different. Ira was on guitar/vox, but Georgia was playing bass, and instead of James McNew they had Steve Jordan (session dude extraordinaire and member of Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos) on drums....so they were doing this cover of "Ask" by The Smiths and Jordan was just going IN, and laying down this super busy crazy ass groove that almost like Fela Kuti or something, just beating the shit out of his drums and then Ira and Georgia were doing this kinda awesome mellow "What Goes On" Velvets version of the Smiths song.

it was pretty rad.

also, this one sticks with me, but i was in this abandoned mine shaft. it was flooded so i was straddling this old railroad tie beam thing and using that as a "boat" and paddling through the flooded mine...anyway there was a point where there was a hole in the ceiling and i could look up and see daylight. suddenly a Nintendo 64 controller on a really really long cord dropped down. I grabbed it and was whisked up through the hole, into the air, and landed in the back of a moving pick-up truck. In the back was Master of Puppets-era Metallica. They had saved me from the abandoned mine. Then I partied with Metallica.

Last night's was a doozy.

Setting is the bedroom of a metal musician, surrounded by an intimate coterie of friends, who communicates all of their wishes through a "handler" (this person is a mutual friend irl). e.g. I tell the artist that I really enjoyed their latest work, he then gives our mutual a dirty look and she says "X doesn't want people to tell him what they think of his work, he wants you to listen to it on your own and think about it privately." Nobody present really spoke except she and I.

The best details, though, were the unusual fashion choices of the artist's posse. My favorite was a bizarre, plate-like piercing worn by a dark, lanky young man with a bob cut in the back of his neck that resembled a miniature "yeild" sign in shape and color and read "WTF Is This?"

A tiny, infant-sized person made, with extensive body ornamentations, to resemble a bunny rabbit held my arm and silently cuddled up beside me.

Just had one of these, where I'm a member of the Byrds ca. 1969. It's a panic dream because I'm sitting on the ground - I'm outside for some reason - trying to replace the strings on my guitar and tune it and we've got a gig to play any minute - somewhere in California. I've got one of those clip on guitar tuners, IRL I have actually just bought one of those, and I can't get it to work and my top E string is buzzing like a sitar. The rest of Byrds have long since tuned up and left me sitting there. Except when I say the Byrds... well, Chris Hillman is there and, in my head I'm hearing someone I think is Roger McGuinn explaining my presence in the band, "Well we haven't had a really good rhythm guitar player since Crosby left." However the singer is "Michael Des Barres" and, although I don't actually know what Michael Des Barres looks like, I can see him onstage dressed in silver and looking like Dave Lee Roth taunting hippies. The drummer appears to be a young Brian Clough albeit with Sterling Morrison's hair.

Bing’s AI chat says:

The fact that you dreamed of being a member of the Byrds, a famous rock band from the 1960s, suggests that you have high expectations or aspirations for yourself, but you may also doubt your own potential or worth.
The clip-on guitar tuner and the buzzing string may represent some of the factors that are preventing you from achieving your desired results. They may symbolize some technical difficulties, distractions, interferences, or mistakes that are affecting your performance or confidence. Alternatively, they may also reflect some aspects of your personality or behavior that need improvement or adjustment.

I can't argue with that.

I've dreamed more than once that John Lennon was still alive, it was all a big misunderstanding.

Dreamt last night that I met Lux and Ivy from the Cramps (as opposed to Lux and Ivy from the Wombles) and Ivy bought me a Sunny Delight.
