Each of these albums have 300+ message threads about them, but it's too much to sift through.

I need a general consensus on:

Bjork - Medulla
Dizzee Rascal - Showtime
Drive By Truckers - The Dirty South
Tom Waits - Real Gone

I haven't heard the Drive By Truckers, but the other three are going to be pretty high in my Top 10 of the year.

Get Dizzee!

The only one I really like is the Dizzee

The Dizzee and Tom Waits albums are great!

Dizzee and Bjork - very good indeed. Not as earth-shatteringly great as their best work, but even the reasons are interesting - MedĂșlla for the concept, Showtime because Dizzee's trying to be more commercial but actually sounding less! and both have a couple of boring songs each.

Medulla turned out exactly how I expected it to be- something I *like* but not put on very often at all. The concept/gimmick is interesting but a bit limiting for a full album.

oh I find it's the exact opposite of limiting! Bjork's been working the strings-and-chorales angle for ages now, this made her take a fresh perspective of it. the beatbox tracks are awesome.

Interestingly, I love all three of these albums but they all have tracks I impatiently skip on normal listens to get to the highlights (although I do enjoy them when I make myself listen all the way through).

Oh dear, I know nothing about these, that probably says something.
