NB: I don't actually remember this album very well, and now I must re-purchase it. My brother has it, not me.

Wow, by weird coincidence, Kick and Hysteria were my 2 favorite albums when I was 8, as they were 2 of the only "new" CD's my parents would buy for me.

Need You Tonight / Mediate
Mystify

Guns In The Sky
Devil Inside
Kick

I fuckin' knew this was you, Dave Q. (Not a complaint.)

Been a hell of a long time since I heard this all the way through, though, so I couldn't rank 'em as such. Most of the singles up top, "Kick" somewhere in the middle, "Guns in the Sky" below that, after that it's a bit vague.

Actually I thought it might be Alex in NYC!

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 05:58 (twenty years ago)

I don't have the album. But of the singles I still love "Need You Tonight," "New Sensation" is alright, "Devil Inside" sounds too silly now and I never dug "Never Tear Us Apart."

I pray for the moment to note how raw someone's moves are.

on the video for 'never tear us apart' (u know that one in prague?) the version is longer with an extended intro different to the single. is this version commonly available? was it just done for the video?
in fact are there any other ace remixes/extended versions of the singles off this album?

ranking the songs :

need you tonight

"New Sensations"....and then everything else.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:39 (twenty years ago)

ILX trivia -- Elvis Telecom was a building or two down from where INXS filmed the "Devil Inside" video. He was waiting to see a movie with some friends and wondered what all the lights and camera crew action was for.

These lists are incredibly similar ... not surprising in light of Ned's analysis, I guess.
"Wild Life" is the worst one, we know that.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 15:34 (twenty years ago)

What happened to that "Pop Idol" become the new hutchence thingy?

This thread makes me want to go dig out my cassette of this that I haven't played in about 10 years.

I don't know what it says about me that I still listen to Kick once every few months (most people are talking about re-purchasing it or digging it out), but it's a damn good record.

Devil Inside
Need You Tonight/Mediate
Guns in the Sky

"in fact are there any other ace remixes/extended versions of the singles off this album?"

YES!!! I got a hard-on when I saw a deluxe 2-disc edition of Kick last week, until I picked it up and saw it's just a few shitty demos and live versions on the second disc, none of the 12-inch versions or B-sides THAT RULED my 13-year-old ears on the radio. A Nick Launay extended remix of New Sensation and "Guns In The Sky (Kick Ass Mix)" are all I can remember in particular now.

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:31 (twenty years ago)

Like Anthony, don't know the album so well but used to love the singles. Now, I'd say:

Need You Tonight - 10.0
Never Tear Us Apart - 9.0
New Sensation - 8.0
Devil Inside - 7.5
